If your relationship is only about sex then a hooker would probably be less complicated.
Personally I think if two people don't have the same sexual preferences then an open relationship fits that bill perfectly. I take the OP's "what's the point" comment on an open relationship to be uppity at best, stupidity more likely, frankly.
I get that some guys require sex to be emotionally intimate with another person, or they require emotional intimacy with another guy to have sex, however you care to justify that to yourselves. That's a foreign concept to me but I think I understand the translation. I guess that's why they make double ended dildos. I'm not real into toys myself. I had a very good friend, since deceased, who was a bottom with another bottom so they popped Viagra so they could play top with each other. I thought it pathetic yet cute.
I had another sort of friend, an old roommate, who was a top in a relationship with another top. They wanted to be monogamous so each took a turn at being the bottom even though they weren't into it. As far as I know they don't have a pill for that.
For me it would be like eating cow brains even though I'm a vegetarian just because my partner decided to cook cow brains for dinner. Whatever blows your skirt up, but as far as I'm concerned, fuck that. My partners always respected my diet and I always respected theirs. We never had to change for each other. We loved each other just for who we were.
Whatever works for ya.
