Where do y'all meet potential mates?

And by "mates", I mean relationship material. I know all about Grindr, A4A, etc. Not really what I'm looking for. I've tried the match.com thing...not too impressed. I did meet a good guy there a few years ago, but we ended up being good friends. I'm not into bars...I think I'm past that stage. I'm a pretty happy guy, but just think that life is better sharing it with someone. Just not too sure where to meet new potentials. So, thought I'd see where everyone else meets guys.

I met 2 great guys ( separately! icon_wink.gif ) through Plenty of Fish, both were fairly long-term relationships - 2 plus years.
Another guy I dated for several months, I met through a MeetUp group.
If you have meetup in your area it'd be wise to check out that venue, you meet other guys with similar interests ( the one I joined was an outdoors camping / kayak / hiking group ) and you actually spend "real time" together.

    Best O" Luck!

    Yup!
Search on LGBT, if you can't find one in your area, you can always start one yourself!

HaHa I met my fiancee in a local gay bar.It was the only one in our area.I never go to bars early in the evening but my mom was very sick in the hospital for weeks with cancer and I was stressed to the max so I decided to grab a drink.I walk in and I am the only one there.Little while later a stunningly handsome muscular latin guy walks in.My jaw hit the floor.I had a few shots for courage and went up to him.2 1/2 years later here we are engaged and happy. You never know when cupids arrow will strike!Ryan

Grindr is mostly for hook up. My ex answered my gay ad on Craigslist. (yep, does work sometimes). I had a couple good dates on Ok Cupid. Match.com sucked. Bars/Clubs guys, more like hook up, sleep around types. I am having an open mind. Never know who you can run into that can make you truly happy.

The grocery store is crawling with them. You can find Trolli in the cucumber department.

Anywhere honestly. I've had guys try and pick me up while waiting for the bus. Sure they turned out not to be the one but hey it happened. You never know where you might meet someone. I know a person who was in a hospital and fell in love with his nurse and now they're married.

I agree. Plus, meeting someone outside in social places is a lot better than online but you can't be shy. Online is too fast paced for me, and mostly end up to sex. Well, sex dominates the encounter so there is less chance to explore, or less chance to go on an extended date.

Location doesn't really matter and Grinder can attest to that..guys are everywhere. You just have to read the que. Today after class I turn to this guy, who kinda been checking me out and actually sat next to me, to ask him what I missed last Friday. He showed me the assignment which I've already gotten from my professor and he wasn't as hot as I thought when I got close to talking to him.

If you lived closer, I'd ask you out right now. I'm free Thursday night if you find yourself in Minneapolis!

Otherwise, I got nothing. It's hard to find even platonic friends these days. BUT, I have learend that it helps to get out there and be open. I met a (HOT) guy this past weekend while standing in line at a coffee shop. We ended up sitting together and chatted for several hours. Okay, so we're not going to be lovers. That was quickly established. But we're going to meet again later this week. We both belong to the same gym and have some other common interests.

The worst that total stranger can say is no.

Yeah I haven't had much success with LGBT groups on meetup, its mostly lesbians. It was a great site though in general for a normal friend crowd if you aren't restrictive to gay only. It's also highly dependent on your city.
