Obama's Empty Threats on Syrian Use of Chemical Weapons

Obama has turned US foreign policy into a toothless tiger. There was supposed to be a "red line" that if Syria crossed by using chemical weapons in its war, the US (or perhaps Israel) would respond militarily. Syria has been using chemical weapons, and there are no consequences. Israel, France and Britain have confirmed the use of chemicals. Brings to mind the vision of the kid who says, "Cross that line, and I'll . . ." The line is crossed, and then there is a new line; and then another; and then another. Maybe Obama should revive Warren Christopher and send him out to do his famous finger wagging routine. Never accomplished anything, but it did exercise his finger muscles.

So what should we expect if North Korea shells South Korea? Another red line will be moved back.

Has the use of chemical weapons by the Assad regime been proven? Perhaps Obama does not want to make the same mistake as his predecessor and start a military operation based on specious intelligence.

Not necessarily by the Assad regime - just that chemical weapons have been deployed.

Exactly. If I was in his shoes I'd want to know that, for example, some rebel group had not got hold of a couple of chemical artillery shells and blown them up, upwind of a populated area, in the hope it would draw the US into the fight against Assad.

Just as well Obama didn't go blundering in a la Bush.

UN's del Ponte says evidence rebels 'used sarin'

Obama will be damned if he does and damned if he doesn't by the American public. Crazy thing is that most Americans that are up in arms about this and "the red line" probably can't even locate Syria on a map

    my opinion :

its a muslim affair , sunni & shia should resolve it,
Assad is a great man & more secular ,
sunni "al qaeeda" has been killing many here in iraq too , sunnis are very cruel , infact shias are a little better ,
Saudi & Iran are real enemies here.

US spending thier people's hard earned money in the form of tax to stop these muslim nations makes no sense, they all hate a 'dhimmi' nation intervening in between

why is obama ,the asshole , worried for syria , coz he's a sunni muslim ,all known .

i love Assad, he's supported the iraqi christians when no-one gave us a place to live in iraqi war.

its time we be loyal to that good man.

    We don't need another war.
