I'm writing this article to let you know what is really painful for a gay in Arab Countries:

1- Losing Family: just imagine yourself losing all your family by saying 'I'm Gay'.
they still love you but as straights they believe its your choice, this moment no one wants it and it is worst if they find out suddenly.

so, what is your choice to lose your family or to keep them? I choose the second always.

2- Losing your job unless you got lucky with understanding firm.

3- Government: In fact government is something you don't need to worry about as long your not acting like a princess in public.

4- conflict of your religion and your sexuality: I did a thorough research and I didn't find anything in Islam says 'kill Gays' or you have the right to kill them as I memorize all Qura'an. It is just the way straights want to interpret Islam.

As I'm young and people find me cute with interesting personality, I don't really find it very hard to find sex partner even I had sex with straight guys, I don't know how they are considering themselves straights. Anyway the hard thing is to find love.

make sure that you don't hurt anyone with your comments, we run to such website to find people who understand what we are going through.

    Thanks for reading..

I am a Syrian Jew and I consider myself an Arab too. I remember while living in Israel, I moved in my apartment that looks very rich and love it so much. My land-owner asked me if I am straight so he can install mezuzah on my door and he doesn't accepts gay guys. So I was afraid to ask him "no, I am gay". If I said that, he will kick me out. It was crazy...

Mezuzah is just a box containing a parchment of script from the Torah...

It's in the Hadith, not the Qur'an.

Abu Dawud (4448 ) "If a man who is not married is seized committing sodomy, he will be stoned to death."

al-Tirmidhi, Sunan 1:152 [Muhammad said] "Whoever is found conducting himself in the manner of the people of Lot, kill the doer and the receiver."

Abu Dawud (4462) The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Whoever you find doing the action of the people of Loot, execute the one who does it and the one to whom it is done.".

well quran is to be followed as per hadith as your prophet said so.
google execution of gays , see the videos ,see what we iraqi go through .
if u don't about that means you stay in a western nation & u dont speak Arabi ,
    you will get many things
saudi , iran , somalia , afghanistan , iraq , gays are killed by ordinary people on the basics of quran & sometimes by government too

I live in arabian country.. i did not say i will not follow hadith i said i will verify it as some people lie and say this is hadith..
also no buddy has the right to execute anyone only government decides and if u notice that all countries u mentioned are not stable and government does not have control yet.. people kill each others in such countries for many reasons..
i have faith in god and god knows that i did not choose to be this way and in quraan god says that he will not give someone something he cannot handle.. also god created eve for Adam so he doesnt feel lonely because god in his infinite wisdom knows everyone needs a partner and if god creates me this way then there is a good reason behind that.
Last thing i got abused enough by straights when i was a child and this is how i became gay and now they want to excecute me for their own mistake. God will never leave us alone we are always under god support.
Most important thing we should keep faith after the battle because this is how life is and if u did not keep faith then u learned the wrong lesson and the same test will get back to u until u learn the right lesson.
Love u all and i always pray to god to guide us in this dark cave.

You sound like a nice young man, so I will respond.

What you describe is not that different from what happens here in the United States. It is just more severe where you are. And, as you suggest, some Arab countries are far worse for gays than yours. We could learn a thing or two about ourselves from looking at Arab societies, when it comes to perceptions of homosexuality.

The only thing I can tell you that may help is that the world is slowly moving in the direction of acceptance of homosexuals. Age is highly correlated with bigotry against gays, and as the dinosaurs die out, things will get better. At least we can hope.

A problem that is more serious in Arab countries than here is that hatred is taught in the schools. I frankly don't know what can be done about that. Perhaps you have some ideas?
