Are we moving foward or around in circles in our community?

It seems as though each time our community break some walls down in soceity (TV, Magazines, Technology, Foundations, some politics)that an incident or scandal comes along (Mark Foely, Tedd Haggard, Generald Pace, and Ann Coulter)and then makes it more difficult for us to be acknowledged. Will we always be under attack each time we get a chance to be accepted?

As long as people empower the Religious Right, and people like them hate, prejudice, and intolerance, by cowering in a pictureless, being dishonest (flat out lieing), hiding from the imaginary Internet Boogie Man, things will remain much the same.

When people accept themselves (ditch the self-loathing, quilt, and start getting honest with themselves and others) things will start coming around.

When John Q. Mainstream Public sees his gay friend next door is a regular guy and not a perv, ped, or someone really scary, then, and only then, will acceptance come.

As long as people hide and cower, the Religious Right wins.

I try to focus less on chaos, and spend more time sitting quietly with what my spirit already knows. Media outlets thrive on negativity, mankind is thirsty for it, and crap becomes king because the world is fueled by people who subscribe to the sci-fi notion of God, Heaven, Santa Clause, Hell, Easter Bunny, punishment and redemption. Corporate religions are to blame.

I try to ignore things that aren't uplifting and inspirational. Most of what I see in the media is hollow and false, and it is deleterious to my spirit's happiness. Unfortunately, this type of enlightenment will alienate a lot of people, and is thus bad for the ratings.

Whats worse is when someone commits a crime and sure enough, they make sure to throw in the "Gay male" in the headlines. I have never seen a headline that said, "Heterosexual male kills 10" With the media, a gay man could save 100 people from a burning building and give his life doing it but we wouldnt hear that he was gay. Only the basic facts.

Then again to the str8 world we are all perverts and child molestors and flaming queens that say girlfriend and sister and walk like we have no hips. Be nice to see some positive gay role models in fictional media as well as non fiction and the news. I notice you dont hear much about Bushs daughter. Correct me if I am wrong but isnt she gay?
