Yes a handsome man indeed but US has no visas for gay partners. Will that change if Supreme Court rules in our favor on the two cases before it now?

In Australia we have a visa for same sex partner called " de facto "
Here are an excerpt of the eligibility

Partner (Temporary and Permanent) (subclass 309 and 100) visas
These visas allow you to enter and stay in Australia on the basis of marriage or a de facto relationship with your partner. De facto relationships include same-sex relationships.

You must be in a partner relationship with an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen.
You apply for both a temporary and permanent visa by lodging one application.
You must not be in a relationship with an ancestor/descendent.
You and your partner must show a mutual and ongoing commitment to a shared life to the exclusion of all others.

Applying on the basis of a de facto relationship:

Your de facto partner may be of the opposite or same sex as yourself.
You and your partner must be at least 18 years old when you apply.
You and your partner must have been in an ongoing and committed de facto relationship for the entire 12 months immediately prior to applying for the visa. Any periods of separation must only be temporary.
Note: The 12 month relationship requirement does not apply in some circumstances.

Yeah, I'm not talking about gay-marrying your way into a safer place though, lol....someone with the sword of death over his head shouldn't have to whore his way into safety.

I took a quick look and yes, Canada DOES have preferential processing for gays wanting to escape persecution in Iran. Specifically that very thing, and that's what I was hoping for you. Even if Canada is not where you were thinking of going (yet I can tell you it's an awesome country, and we have a large Persian community in Vancouver --for example-- for one because Canada accepted a lot of Iranian refugees way back during the revolution), --even if Canada isn't where you were looking, the fact that Canada has such a policy means it's likely other countries do, too.

Here's an article from our national TV station, CBC, on a memo from a government minister stating that Canada wants to come to the aid of gays living under threat of persecution in Iran specifically. And remember, this is a conservative government....the Canadian equivalent of the Republicans in the USA. If our conservatives feel this way, you can be confident that this is a core principle that transcends political agenda in Canada --this isn't likely to be a temporary policy.

So get off RJ and get yourself to an embassy. If you can get to the Canadian Embassy, it wouldn't surprise me if they could tell you not only the process for emigrating to Canada, but perhaps also about other countries with programs you may want to consider.

    Again, best wishes. icon_smile.gif

This is to Canada's credit. Indeed, I can second that, Canada is a great country. I am not Canadian, by the way.

I know the US grants asylum to persons who will be killed due to political or religious persecution. I am pretty sure that a govt who will kill you for being gay would qualify as political or religious persecution.

I know a gay HIV+ Mexican got asylum in USA due to the fact that he will be killed or something for being gay and also that there aren't proper medical care for HIV+ people in Mexico but that was like 10 years ago. I am not sure how much easier it is now.

A handful of gay men from Iran, which has the death penalty for gay acts, have been granted refugee status in New Zealand.Gary Poole is chief executive of Refugees as Survivors NZ, which helps run the National Refugee Resettlement Centre

If you want to consider New Zealand as an option I would contact them directly fir further information:

It's such a shame than an ancient and proud people like those in Iranian have to put up with a government as corrupt, murderous, and dangerous as theirs. The Iranian people deserve better.

How about Europe, I've met a few Iranians over here (my gym seemed to attract Swedish people of Iranian descent).

Check out the www.immi.gov.au its the Australian immigration department. There is openings for architects in certain states of Australia. If not some of my Iranian friends got to the UAE and moved on from there.

I don't know any personal experiences, but you can research political asylum for people persecuted on sexual orientation grounds.

http://www.uklgig.org.uk/asylum.htm#Is it possible to qualify as a refugee on the grounds of persecution I will face because of my sexual orientation?

Yeah then you can get persecuted by the EDL and UKIP because of your ethnicity.

sometimes i'm embarrassed to be an american. while the rest of the planet advances on social issues, here we are, stuck in the weeds, spinning the props and never to catch up with the rest of the world. ahhhh, but we have john mccain, that nasty old man, and the rest of his backwater ilk, to speak for us. good grief. best of luck to you, keep us posted. i'm curious though, how are you able to post pictures of yourself on a gay workout website and get around the government's censors?

People are only helping the OP because he's attractive. Let's be real, people. If he were some ugly fatty---no one would give a fuck where he went.

    Good luck, OP! icon_biggrin.gif
