Seeing another thread about Carrot Top made me think. Just recently I was in the Mccarran International Airport in Las Vegas flying back home to Alabama.

I haven't flown too much so I think airports are awesome - so I go explore before it's time for my flight. I ended up at the other side of where I was boarding and decided to use the restroom.

So here I am pissing beside some dude who looks kinda familiar. Oh well, not trying to be a creep or anything. Put the monster away, zip it up, and it's hand washing time.

So I'm washing my hands like a good kid when I turn around to throw my paper towel away. I accidentally bumped into someone and immediately apologized. "Oh, sorry about that!"

The guy turned around and it happened to be the famous 'Carrot Top.' He said "No problem, man" and walked away. I just kinda stood there in disbelief that I met a (kinda-sorta) celebrity. To anyone wondering: yes, he does look a bit weird in real life but he's built like a train!

After that I kinda felt like lesser of a person for some reason. Here I am meeting a celebrity where money is no option for him. He can go wherever he wants and do whatever he wants at anytime. I began to think about it a lot, but then I got a grande caramel frappucino from Starbucks and forgot all about it icon_lol.gif!

So what about you guys? Ever meet any celebrities?

When I was an intern at Walt Disney World, I met the following celebrities:

    Liza Minnelli (she was crazy)
Isabel Sanford (Weezie from the Jeffersons....LOVED her)
Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson when they were married (what a joke)
Alice Cooper (awesome guy as well as an awesome family man)

Then there were the celebrities I never met but came close to it:

    Sylvester Stallone (rude)
Nancy Kerrigan (the skates and TV made her look tall)
Charlie Sheen (wow, talk about a guy who has problems)

Sure have! Well, I really didn't meet them, but I got food for them.

About a year and a half ago Seth Green and Maccaulay Culkin come into Panda Express (my first job), and I was the person on the line who helped them out.

Funny thing is, I actually said to Seth Green (before I realized who he was) "Has, anyone ever told you, you look just like Seth Green?" and he replied "Huh, I've heard that before" with kindof a smirk on his face and just carried on.

MaccaulayCulkin had on sunglasses (and nail polish btw), so we didn't recognize him until he handed the girl at the register his Credit Card and his name popped up on the screen!

We were super slow that night, so we had only a few customers in the dining area, and they weren't even paying attention.

@Erik: That's awesome you've met so many! You know, I always figured Sylvester Sallone would be an asshole in real life

@Slim: That is AWESOME! I'd meet Seth Green over Carrot Top any day haha! Wait... you work at Panda Express? I LOVE PANDA EXPRESS.
You should marry me and bring me Panda Express home every day. Just sayin' icon_lol.gif

I worked there for two years though and I actually did eat there everyday because we got FREE FOOD (good thing I can't gain weight).

But - If you wanna get married anyway. . . We could do that. . . icon_razz.gif

I have a friend who's friends with the members of The Black Keys, so I've been to a few of their parties.

And I talked to Yolandi Vi$$er from Die Antwoord at a bar, she was totally different than what I expected. She talked really proper and professional, you can tell she does the ghetto tough thing as a show.

Met a few celebrities, and some politicians & military leaders. A partial list, in no particular order:

    - Barbra Streisand (in her dressing room following a performance of Funny Girl on Broadway)
    - President Bill Clinton (though only when he was Arkansas Governor), a number of times
    - Hillary Clinton (on an airplane with Bill & Chelsea)
    - Colin Powell, when he was a 4-star General, and I a mere Army Major.
    - Future Secretary of State Warren Christopher. We flew in First Class together, and I offered him a ride from the Little Rock airport, when he was co-chair of the Clinton Presidential transition team.
    - William S. Paley, founder & CEO of CBS.
    - Donald Trump, just a passing handshake at a cocktail party.
    - Meredith Vieira, formerly of The View, the Today Show, and CBS news. I first met her at CBS in the 1970s when I was interning, and again when I was in the VIP audience at The View.
    - Regis Philbin. Met him in the VIP lounge before his Regis & Kelly show.
    - Lou Ferrigno as the "Hulk", during a disastrous PR stunt in Manhattan.
    - President Eisenhower, when I was just a kid, the guest of Congressman Gordon Canfield, a family friend.
    - Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC). I introduced one of our RJers to her, and took their pic together that I posted here.
    - George Takei and his husband, at an awards ceremony for him.
    - Sharon Gless. We talked about her role in the US version of Queer as Folk.

Well, that's enough. Just an eclectic short list that I thought might interest & amuse. Famous people are everywhere. And most actually enjoy meeting people as their equals, who are neither reverential nor fanatical. Don't fear them, and do nothing to make them fear you, and you can chat with the most famous people on Earth.

Just recently met Dennis Rodman at Katz's Deli. He walked in and sat right next to me and my two friends. He was fabulous (and definitely on some good stuff because nothing he said made any sense)!

And if it counts, I saw (but didn't meet): Dean Winters, Gilbert Gottfried, Michael Ian Black, and Kris Humphries all in lower Manhattan.

No not yet. The closest I've been was just seeing a band play live. I would really like to meet Shirley Manson (singer of Garbage), Joan Jett, Courtney Love, Anna Farris, & Caroline Rhea some day though. icon_smile.gif

That would have been amazing. She was so talented...

For the Canadians here on RJ, I got to meet Brent Butts of Corner Gas fame. I was out for a birthday dinner in Vancouver 7 years ago and the staff started to sing happy birthday to me. Brent and his wife joined in and I got to talk to them briefly before leaving the restaurant. He's awesome. Also met perennial CBC jack of all trades Brian Williams at Lake Louise many years ago. Oh, and my older brother got to meet the Russian Rocket, aka Pavel Bure.

I sold Bette Midler art supplies when she was in Toronto filming The First Wives Club, didn't recognize her at first cuz she had her natural grey hair pulled into a pony-tail and was wearing denim overalls.
She was super friendly and very chatty.

Also sold art supplies to Kelly McGillis ( Top Gun, Witness ) it was her post-glamour days...she was full-on diesel dyke and packin' a few extra pounds... she was very pleasant.

I sold mid-century modern furniture to Diane Keaton, that was fun.
Meg Ryan, Toni Collette and Gina Gershon came into the shop the same year , Gina was cool, Toni was funny, Meg had major attitude.

Yes. I've spotted random B and C list celebrities. Also a handful of background actors from major tv shows. There are plenty of them around West LA and the Valley. I even used to work with one. Tripped me out when he showed me his IMDB page. icon_lol.gif

Michael Stipe (came up and chatted briefly as I was sweeping outside a theater in 2007) - was pretty nice.

Kim Basinger - Served her at a different movie theater I worked at in 2004. Was not a pleasant experience.

Met Kevin Costner in an Aspen club called Caribou. I was playing backgammon and winning and he sat down to play me. Nice guy but we were playing a pretty competitive game and mostly the words spoken were tactical. I won, he went back to the bar.

Martina Navratilova at a charity event in Texas. She sponsored the entire venue (a live theatre production) for underprivileged kids and even paid for school busses to drive them there. She was also hooking up with my doctor AND my stock broker's wives.

Chris Everett at a pool party in Amelia Island Plantation when the new tennis center was just opening. (Beat her in backgammon, too.)
