    Hey guys:

I think I broke my toe, or fractured it. Is there anything a doctor can do? Am I wasting my time going to see one?

Pretty much the thing to do is to tape it to an adjacent toe for support and elevate it with some ice if you can. See a doctor if it needs any more than that or if you are not sure.

Depends on the severity of the broken toe... If it needs resetting, then yea, you'll need to go the doctor. Be careful not to let it heal while off alignment, or it'll be a bitch to fix in the future.

just DONT sleep with tape on your toe. your feet swell in your sleep/when you lie horizontal for a long period of time and you will cut off the circulation leaving the tape on all night.

You need to have it x-rayed, which means seeing a doctor. Don't delay, or you could give yourself a deformity with continuing complications.

I slipped on some rocks while in Hawaii one year and I'm pretty sure I ended up breaking a toe, it took forever to heal but I don't know that a doctor could have done anything. Perhaps wrapping it to keep it from moving but that's probably more for comfort than anything....

I fractured my big toe in college. All they did was give me a wooden shoe to wear...which I didn't...and was a bit of a mistake. For a couple years it would pop a lot but eventually stopped.

I once broke a little toe. The doctor taped it to the next one, but that just made it hurt. I was just careful until it healed, then it was fine.

Only a doctor can tell you what type of break it is and how it needs to be treated. You don't want it to heal the wrong way.

I've severed a bone in my toe before, and my orthopedic surgeon told me to wrap it when active and to just rest it a bit otherwise. It got better pretty quickly, but if your pain persists, definitely consult a doctor.
