Punish the victim. What an enlightened strategy.

So if you rent, don't call the police? Will hospitals report gunshot victims next? Drug overdoses? Muggings? Rapes? Intake question: "Do you rent or own?"

Maddening is right! What the hell?

This is why I NEVER involve the police in any matter if I can help it. I can understand that they probably get bombarded with domestic disputes daily, but isn't it their jobs to go out and protect and serve? Isn't this why we pay taxes?

I once got knocked off of my bicycle from some woman driving an SUV while talking on her cellphone, and the police got involved. When the cop arrived, he asked me to sit down on the ground, but my legs were bleeding and my adrenaline was pumping full force, so I refused to sit down. The douche told me that if I didn't sit on the ground that he was going to arrest me for "impeding a police investigation." Here I was bleeding, and the ass was treating me like I was the criminal. He even did a warrant search and background check on me to see if I was wanted or had any priors. Here I was the victim of a car-on-bike accident, yet I was being treated like a felon.

That was several years ago, and I swore that I would never involve the police for anything ever again. I don't care if I get shot by a mugger, I will never call the police for anything. I think my chances of surviving a mugger are better than my chances surviving the police.

The issue probably would've been resolved easier, if she would've dumped that dude the first time! She probably likes to get hit.

I think I have a family of the type of issue this is targeted at across the road from ne unfortunately. Also, evicting problem tenants won't solve issues but simply move them elsewhere.

What it is doing though is creating an environment where people are put at risk for fear if the consequences of this legislation. In the case in hand, it is obvious that SOMETHING has to be done..but throwing all involved on to the street is not the answer.

More needs to be done in general on dealing with underlying issues rather than the immediate symptoms at hand. This takes resources.

Sadly, that's the impression I get, too. Whenever I needed police help, they told me there was nothing they could do. But god forbid I move the motorcycle out of the garage without a helmet: there are fifteen squad cards and six unmanned drones pointing their guns right at me.

I guess like a lot of people, some police officers just love the easy stuff. Domestic disturbance calls tend to happen at night and to involve intoxicated (i.e. unpredictable) people, so let's just do whatever it takes to suppress them.
