Bahaha, they're so cute and old. This reminds me of the Parks and Rec episode where they attempt to give senior citizens sexual education courses.

I thought I recognized Davey Wavey's voice as the interviewer. This shoot was arranged with the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center's Seniors Services Program, so I presume all these seniors are gay themselves. And therefore perhaps not typical of the general senior population in their responses.

That's pretty funny. I think a lot of us have misconceptions about senior citizen sex. I've always just assumed that when you get to a certain age that you're just not interested in sex anymore. I HOPE that's not true, but always thought it was. From listening to these people, maybe it's not. icon_smile.gif

Yeah I was assuming they were gay themselves by how some of them acted.

Idk the idea of elderly gay (men) people makes me really uncomfortable. I think of old people as warm and wholesome and stuff and its difficult for me to say older gays that way. By elderly I mean like 70 and up. Maybe 65 depending on how old they look.

Well, me, too, insofar as I'm kinda conservative ( icon_exclaim.gif ) when it comes to sex. But my husband is still active, and I'm 64, close to your 65 cut-off, while he's 78.

It's the same reflex you mention that prevents us from thinking too much about our own parents having sex, and even more our grandparents. I understand it, and I don't mind it being applied to us, unless said in a nasty & hurtful way (and that's been done here to us, too).

But I hope you'll believe that when we fall asleep each night, usually holding each others' hands, we're clearly not as attractive as young guys, obviously, but we're no less in love. And I hope that counts for something. icon_biggrin.gif

Yeah, it's a huge misconception that seniors don't have sex. HIV transmission in the senior population is actually on the rise, especially in retirement homes, because many seniors don't use condoms believing that even if they contract HIV, they will die by natural causes and old age before any complications due to HIV.

+ 73% of seniors ages 57 to 64 are sexually active.
+ 53% of seniors ages 65 to 74 are sexually active.
+ 26% of seniors ages 75 to 85 are sexually active.

Oh no I'm not saying that. It's just hard for me to think of old people especially older gay people having sex. Because being gay is so much about sex to me (and it would be the same if I was straight) that the idea kinda creeps me out. Lol I'm just trying to imagine a 75 year old 'twink' trying to take an enema.

I'm kind of hoping that I either have enough money to keep myself looking young for as long as possible or I go somewhere around 45-50. Aging really scares me. Like seriously scares me. I don't like the idea of getting old at all. I'm turning 22 soon and I already feel used up and wasted.

...WTF? so you assume that at so young age you just magically become gay and at some older age you magically STOP being gay? can you be any more vapid, superficial and shallow....basing their gayness on looks and age? Do you not understand the fight for Same Sex marriage rights..... to get the same benefits of Social Security and FMLA, and inheritance, etc? Get over being uncomfortable with Senior Citizens that happen to be gay....you can only hope to live long enough......wow....telling on your biases.

I understand all those things and they have nothing to do with what I was talking about sir. What I meant is that I view the elderly as warm, nurturing, affectionate, grandparent types. I have no problem with them being gay. It's just that to me gay is such a sexual thing it kinda creeps me out to think of older men having sex. I don't really want to imagine ANY old people having sex but the Golden Girls broke down that stereotype for heterosexual elderly people. Maybe gay men need a show like that.

My dear, I'm not the least bit bothered by your attitude. It's actually quite normal for the young, I once had it myself, so I'd be hypocritical to bash you for it.

Your thinking will change, as you yourself age. I don't have to say a word, or convince you of anything. Self interest will change your views in due time.

But for now be young, and stick to youth, it's what you do best. Just as I have to stick to old age, since I don't have any other option. But I try to make the best of it, as you should make the best of what YOU are right now. I had my youth, now you have yours. And let's stay friends. OK? icon_biggrin.gif

(And BTW, the thought of a 75-year-old twink taking an enema even frightened ME. Is there even such as a thing a 75-year-old twink? Gawd, I hope not. icon_razz.gif)

Believe it or not I've seen men in their golden years trying to pull of the sliver twink look. Do. Not. Want.

Lol we can stay friends. I just wanted to make sure I didn't offend anyone.

Midnight, there are SO many things wrong with that paragraph. icon_smile.gif You have some things to work on bud. You should consider yourself LUCKY if you make it into your 80's. Not dread it. Having said that, I DO understand that 22 year old attitude...being a former 22 year old myself. icon_smile.gif Just trust me...the things you think at 22 are MUCH different than the things you'll think at 30 and 40+.

You certainly didn't offend me, I promise. icon_biggrin.gif

As for "silver twinks" I saw that when I first came out, at the ripe age of 45. I observed my peers at gay bars pretending they were 20-somethings, dressing & acting out of their range, looking totally absurd & pathetic.

But that was OK, it taught me something. That I should act my own age, stick to my own age group, be who I am in the gay community. It may not be who I'd like to be, but that battle's been fought and over. You're 45, Bob, and you can't change the math.

So exploit the math, and do what 45-year-old guys do best, not what 20-something guys do. And I think I had some success with that strategy. At least I was pleased with how things turned out. icon_biggrin.gif

Yeah it's a sad thing. I can't say I will much better. Lol I will be like Madonna clinging onto the very last drop of my youth like its a rope bringing me to safety.

I guess if I didn't feel like such an old 21 year old I'd feel less bad about getting older.
