It's hilarious when people say that shit because if you had even an ounce of intelligence you would notice that the right-wing is a party of people who will lie til their face is blue and think that they're not doing anything wrong.

Literally, in the definition it says...
    "to restore traditional ones.
    To limit change."

Yes. I believe exactly where we're at, we should be kept.
    LOLNO.

I remember someone in the last election cycle working in rural areas and saying he was surprised how folks on both sides of the fence really knew the issues a lot better than he assumed.

Which is a roundabout way of saying, the whole "blind liberals" meme of many conservatives is simply wrong. The idea that someone who disagrees with you must be blindly following a demagogue is laughable.

    Gotta work harder than that.

Now that's great!! I read your title line and before I read the body of the post I thought, "an old one." There seems to be a level of "density" that permeates the older physche that I just make me laugh..

Indeed, "the older physche", and the attempt at a sentence, is completely unfathomable.

Conservative and liberal mean different things in the UK, so I may be right off on a tangent.

I perceive conservatism as being a belief in the value of money, and the policies to ensure that it's value is retained.

I perceive liberalism as a belief in the diversity of man, and not being prejudiced about those differences.

Why are the two mutually exclusive?

Its not. Over here we refer to ourselfs as fiscally conservative and socially liberal.

Your conservatives, though, appear to consider that you can't have the fiscal conservatism without the social conservatism too (or so it appears from here) maybe the problem (for the UK too) is that with only two major parties its hard to be properly represented.

Yep. That's the problem exactly. They are so divided on the issues that there is no middle ground, not to mention Americas temptation to segregate people in absolutes.

I think politics would work much better if people can see both sides of the issue. I mean, yea you have things like civil rights which there is only one side but most issues have more than one way to view them and are more complex than black and white.
