Sounds like somebody, subconsciously, doesn't want the Giants to pick him up! icon_lol.gif

NBC SportsThe Tim Tebow era is over in New York.

The Jets have released Tebow, the New York Post is reporting.

Tebow was widely expected to be on the way out for months, and the only surprise is that the Jets waited until now to do it. The arrival of rookie quarterback Geno Smith in the second round of the NFL draft may have been what it took for the Jets to decide that there was simply no room for Tebow on the roster anymore.

Now the question is whether there’s any room for Tebow anywhere in the NFL. Last year, when the Broncos decided to get rid of Tebow, the Jets and Jaguars were the only teams that expressed any interest. Now the Jets have moved on, and the Jaguars have already said Tebow will not be coming to Jacksonville.

Which means the Tim Tebow era may be over not just in New York, but in all of the NFL.

I still say he sticks with somebody as a third-stringer. Whichever team it is will wait until after rookies report to spring workouts.

Arena Football already started in late March, but in a pinch, the Predators or VooDoo or somebody will shoehorn him into a roster if it comes to that.

    http://www.newyorkjets.com/news/article-1/Jets-Waive-QB-Tim-Tebow/4b077feb-124e-40d2-9425-5402be3db289

The J E T S JETS-JETS-JETS!Tebow (6'3", 236/Florida/Jacksonville, FL) was acquired by the Jets in a trade on March 26, 2012 from Denver and saw action in 12 games this past season. Originally a first-round selection of the Broncos in 2010, Tebow has started 16 of the 35 games he has played. For his career, he completed 173-of-361 passes for 2,422 yards, 17 touchdowns and nine interceptions for a 75.2 passer rating and added 989 yards and 12 touchdowns on 197 rushes.

“We have a great deal of respect for Tim Tebow,” said Jets head coach Rex Ryan. “Unfortunately, things did not work out the way we all had hoped. Tim is an extremely hard worker, evident by the shape he came back in this offseason. We wish him the best moving forward.”

I REALLY didn't need an Akili Smith reference today. Ouch!

ESPN Stats & Info (@ESPNStatsInfo via Twitter)Since entering NFL in 2010, Tim Tebow has NFL-worst 47.9 comp pct. Last player w/ sub-48 comp pct in 1st 3 seasons? Akili Smith 1999-01

I still insist that, like most of his passes, Timmy's NFL career is incomplete! icon_biggrin.gif

Also, just a reminder that in the NFL, teams split their jersey sales evenly among all 32 teams. So where he lands won't matter from that standpoint.

Perhaps he will throw better when he finally comes out of the closet, changes teams and changes positions.

This is a great way to start off the week. Tim Tebow will be just fine. I wait for the day when he's back in NY, playing against the Jets, and the revenge is sweet. Thank God he is freed from that den of mediocrity that is the NY Jets.
Tebow is FINALLY unchained --- Wooo-Hoooo!!!!!!

Rumor has it Tim just may come back to Florida. Two options were floated today:

The Bucs are looking for a backup quarterback behind Josh Freeman. Not quite near his home in Jacksonville, but not all that far either.

No one saw this one coming.....there is some interest in him going to the Arena Football League and the Orlando Predators are VERY interested in him. That could be a smart move for Tim as not only will they pack 'em in at the Amway Center, he elevates the league and will increase attendance. I like that idea the best as he could be toast in the NFL.

And....again.....the Jags have said they do not want him. Dumb Jags! Bad Jags!

Yeah, but look at it this way.....if he were to end up in the Arena Football League, he would give them so much street cred. Ticket sales will jump and he will be the face of that league. He'll BE the league. TV revenues will skyrocket. Tim wins. The league wins. Orlando wins too as it's rumored the Preds will make a contract offer, even if another NFL team glances his way.

(and the Preds quarterback is on the team's fecal roster anyway 'cause he was nabbed for DUI recently)

Anyway you look at it. That would be a demotion. He needs to be in the NFL. To me he is very emblematic of where a lot of Americans are right now. On many different levels we are down and out, looking to pull ourselves up, looking for that one shot, that one team that will play us so we might grow and develop, and succeed once again. I have a lot emotionally invested in the guy. I NEED HIM IN THE NFL.

The best thing for Tebow and his career, sign on to the CFL in Canada for a few years, then come back. He will be ready for the NFL then. Right now his style does not work in the NFL.

It comes down to making a choice ...

If Tebow wants a career in the NFL, then he'll need to change positions.

If he wants to be a quarterback, then he needs to find another league.

It appears highly unlikely that he will have any kind of longevity as an NFL quarterback.

Curiously, the Jags did not sign a starting quarterback, and they had their choice of any of the rookies in the draft. They chose no one. Whether this means anything remains to be seen. Tim Tebow does not officially go on waivers until today at 4pm, so if there are any NFL teams interested, this can't happen until after that.

As for the Arena League, I hate to see Tim reduced to this, because I truly believe under the right coach and the right circumstances he can succeed as starting quarterback in the NFL just as he did at Denver. That being said, the Arena League sure didn't hurt Kurt Warner. Also, Tim Tebow's name recognition is through the roof, so in that respect he could potentially raise the awareness of the Arena League to higher heights as Tebow fans tune in to see him play. I've never even seen an Arena game --- but I'd tune in if Tebow were playing.
