Wikipedia says, there is no openly gay character in Star Trek. I´ve found one.ST Voyger, Emergency medical hologram from USS Prometheus, series 4, episode 14. icon_biggrin.gif

Only gay version on EMH can be more iritating than Doctor from Voyger himselficon_lol.gif

Q was gay for sure. Of course ,so far above human consciousness that it does not really matter.

And Trelain was obviously a spoiled gay brat.

John de Lancie, the guy who played Q, had a son named Keegan and Keegan played Q's son in one episode. I think Q seems gay because of his snide and sarcastic personality which a lot of gay men have.

Jadzia Dax almost resumed a relationship with another woman, Lenara Kahn, on DS9. When Dax was Torias Dax, a male, he was married to Nilani Kahn.

The Trill taboo of re-association prevented them from resuming their relationship.

Yar slept with Data, and Kira had several male lovers - though her mirror universe counterpart was bisexual.

But Q had "sex" with the Female Q and made a baby, and constantly made passes at Janeway, including removing her uniform for lingerie, joining her in a bubble bath, putting a giant heart sized bed in her quarters, putting a puppy in her ready room, etc.

But yes, Andy Dick as the EMH mark 2 had to be a gay character hahaha.

The lack of gay characters was the producers' fault. Brannon Braga and Rick Berman. They opposed the inclusion of gay characters. Although recently Braga stated he regretted that there were no gay characters in Star Trek and that he would do it now. So if there's ever a new Star Trek show, there will probably be gay characters. But then again, it's the second decade of the 21st century. It would have been nice if Star Trek had been a little forward thinking on gay issues.

Yes, the got rid of him to quickly.

Which books was he in Tim? I used to be a big reader of the books, and still have most of them somewhere. They almost did a lesbian episode with Dr. Crusher and the Trill if I remember correctly. She was attracted to the male host, then it moved to a woman, and she couldnt go through with it.

He's not in the books, but his former partner, an unjoined Trill, is in the Star Trek Titan books.

Wasn't there also a ST:TNG episode with a gay metaphor where they go to this planet where Ryker falls in love with a being that had no gender, but "it"
felt it was female and was ostracized by the community?

The Star Trek TNG, DS9, V, and E franchises actually would have shown more gay situations if not for the network they were contracted with who kept them from pushing the envelop in fear of loosing ratings. However this B title net-series revision of Star Trek actually went there.

I'm a geek trekker so I pretty much get what everyone's notices in sub texts

the actor playing Jadzia Dax ,made the character very believable as a bisexual individual.

I wonder if homosexuality in the Klingon Empire would ever be tolerated.Same goes for Romulans although the species themselves emulates the actual Roman empire so it could have been tolerated.

Many star trek books include same sex relationships or preferences.
