Hey guys trying to decide if i should just concentrate on staying lean or try to get big. When i bulk it all goes to the gut does this mean that my body is meant to be lean or is there a way to lean out and look bigger just by looks. I know its impossible to do both at the same time though

For what it's worth, I'd bring you home to dinner with Mom just as you are ;) and you'd look great either way.

I choose the "hard road"" loosing fat by building muscle - it's a hard balance in eating that I have to look at on a weekly basis (like did I get my 1500 grams of protein this week? did I not go over budget on carbs or fats?).

If you choose either bulking or cutting, it's easier.

Remember Sugars are even worse that fats for putting on fat. But, you still need some to keep things balanced out, so keep up on the fruits and be mindful of processed sugar sneaking in everywhere.

    Cheers!

Honestly, your frame looks good with the weight it has on it...I wouldn't radically change anything.

You could try a regimen like Leangains that manipulates calories/macros in an effort to stimulate gains at the same time as keeping fat gain to a minimum. It's slow going, but the theory is that it's not any slower once you consder the need to both bulk and then cut with a more traditional program.

I think you can totally afford to bulk, if gaining fat is easy that just mean your eating to much of it and/or not burning enough calories when your working out.

What is the issue with milk? Am I OK if it is only fat free milk? I'm trying to reduce the midsection by about 10 lbs.

I'd venture to say in terms of general perceived aesthetics higher muscular mass is preferred over hyper-leanness. Aiming towards being very lean also tends to drain the face and make it look gaunt.

All depends on how your body takes it. People can't decide for you. You have to for yourself. If you bulk. see how your body feels with added weight. That might be your decision right there to continue to bulk or stay lean.

Also, if you have tried to bulk and it goes to the gut, it means your diet isn't clean enough. Too many bad foods. Bulk/eat clean!!
