Did you know there is a field in science called Philematology, which is the scientific study of kissing? Yes, you can study kissing.

Next time you're at a bar and want to pick up on that little hottie in the corner or that muscle-bound dude flexing in the corner, just approach them, and tell them that you're a professional philematologist and that you're gathering scientific data on kissing and that you would like them to participate in the study with you. icon_lol.gif

Did you know that kissing releases endorphins and Oxytocin, those feel-good hormones, into the body? Are there other benefits to kissing that many of us have never even considered? Are there health benefits to kissing, even though we would think that kissing could pass pathogens? Why do we humans love to kiss? What are the evolutionary mechanisms and roles underlining kissing?

You want to know, then watch:

What a fascinating video. The studies on attachment during the last half were particularly interesting... Especially the one with monkeys. Kind of heartbreaking but it is also nice to know that we are not all instinctively driven even at the most underdeveloped stage

True, that was an interesting study about attachment and how monkeys develop bonds. I thought it was even more fascinating how our attachment is intensified when we are deterred from attaching to others. That could be a lesson for us, especially while dating. It appears that the more we resist someone's "clingyness," the more we intensify that very clingyness.

I was a little lost when he transitioned from kissing to attachment, tho. I'm still trying to see how the attachment hypothesis ties into kissing. Maybe kissing is a form of attachment? If so, I didn't get that from the video.

Butt kissing leads to the "Human Centipede." No thanks!

That's definitely an additional charge, not to mention a lifetime investment in antivirals such as acyclovir or famciclovir and other topical remedies.
