When I visited SF, we went to the Cafe in the Castro. It was crowded but fun! Not sure if its still there.

Another great freak show is the eagle for some old pork chops dressed in leather.

Badlands usually is the most popular spot I've noticed.

So basically, SF has no gay bars left?

And SF has no gay men left who can respond to this question? Really? Is all we have left hearsay and speculation?

I'm curious about this. Are the SF bars really that awful?

I knew gay life and culture in SF had gone down the toilet in recent years, but I didn't realize it has become that bad.

That's unfortunate. For SF's sake, I hope that's not the case.

I have two friends that live out there, will be glad to ask. At least one of them is out constantly (I think Badlands is his fav. place). He's late 30s as a point of reference.

It's mostly a retirement community of rich older white guys now.

I like 440 Castro, it's a fun crowd and usually rather nice - on the bearish side if that's your thing.

440 is awesome... Probably my favorite castro bar.

if you want crowds, and dancing, Badlands, The Mix, Toad Hall...

Kinda hard to go wrong with any bar in the Castro.

SOMA has some fun bars also... just really depends on what youre looking for.
