'blue monday' by new order is pretty much the greatest song to run to ever (for all you fags it's that song rhianna totally stole from in that p.o.s. 'shut up and drive'). it's so amazing. oh god, that bass line. just when you think you are about to pass out that shit comes on the ipod building to seven minutes of complete gay bliss. it never fails.

    brilliant.

    any one else agree?

Yes, love Blue Monday. Like the Cure, New Order had some of the best openings to songs ever. This was a great era for music, especially with a queer sensibility. Morrissey & The Smiths, Depeche Mode, Bronksi Beat/Communards/Jimmy Somerville, Pet Shop Boys, Erasure, and so many others... But, one of the songs AND videos I love most by New Order is True Faith:

As a kid just coming to terms with his being gay, I had the hots for the Latin guy on the right as the video opens. And the lead singer of New Order looked really cute here. He hasn't held up well, though.

Blue Monday was also sampled by Aussie entertainer Kylie Minogue in a NOW official mash-up with Cant Get You Outta My Head. The remix is titled Can't Get Blue Monday Outta My Head.

It is also the most successful 12" single to date.

It's an awesome mix. The Brit Awards performance is amazing.

Hell YEAH!! I love New Order! They're quite possibly my favorite band. If you like Blue Monday and the Power, Corruption and Lies album you should check out Movement. Movement is their first album under the name New Order. They used to be Joy Division before the lead singer killed himself on the wake of their American tour. Movement is a very dark album.

But back to Blue Monday...it's the only song I've ever heard that mixes dub, punk, electro, disco but doesn't sound like a mimic of those styles. It's a true original and still sounds fresh!

    Ewww...Orgy.

"Ceremony" and "Bizarre Love Triangle" are my favorite New Order songs...and "Touched By the Hand of God" is soooo good for cardio.

Oh...and "Bigmouth Strikes Again" by The Smiths is also a good cardio song -- at least it's good for jumping rope icon_smile.gif
