I'm a midwesterner being transplanted down south to good ol' Texas. Was curious if any of you RealJocker's have any recommendations on neighborhoods to look at? I'll be working in NW Houston but looking for a younger, social area...

Really all the younger crowd lives north of 59, west of downtown, south of I-10 and east of 610. Midtown, Montrose and the Galleria neighborhoods to be exact. The area is booming, full of parks, restaurants and bars.

I haven't lived in Houston as an adult (just from 0-18 + holidays visiting folks, summers etc.), and I second what msuNdc said. There will be a mix of young people everywhere, but the city young people will live where msuNdc said, which I understand is more expensive. I couldn't see myself living there anyway because I am not a typical "young person" in that I don't like eating out or going to bars. I do like hike trails and places to be outside, but I wasn't under the impression Houston is known for this like Austin is... Correct me if wrong msuNdc icon_smile.gif

NW Houston as in the Cypress area? They suck at water polo.
