As a fashion school drop-out, I feel like I can make you all beautiful. I'll actually give legitimate advice, but I can't promise no sass.

And don't pretend you're too masc and str8, because I've seen some of you hoes's bathroom counters and that Tigi volumizing mousse is half empty.

Okay I'll be your first victim.

    Here's my actual problem:

I really do like leather a lot but functionally it makes no sense to wear. Bright colors make me look way bigger than I am and although I try to buy mostly solids it makes me look boring. I'm done with stripes and dots and graphic tees. And I like bling on my clothes but I don't want to look like Diana Ross. What's a way that I can look like a nice blend of masculine and feminine styles while having a slight tinge of that dominatrix look with a splash of color?

Your best bet for color is first to focus on things that are predominantly black. You're right in that color makes you seem larger, especially the brightest of colors. So keep the color towards the center or top of your torso and stay away from bands of color or anything around the midsection. You also have a warm skintone so warmer colors will suit you best. Leopard print and gold jewelry is your best friend.

Virgin Blak (http://www.virginblak.com) has the best affordable leather. And all their stuff is the right amount of alternative.

No offense but animal print has always looked tacky to me. By top of the torso you mean like accessories right?

You have to be careful with it. I've never had luck with casual leopard, only in button-ups or accents. And by top of the torso I mean a graphic or print that's mostly on your chest. It'll bring focus to that part of your body and less on the midsection.

Also, be wary of sizes on Virgin Blak. They're a Korean site, so they tend to be "one size fits all" or wonky sizes.

Oh I see. If I'm not into print tees or graphics would some really varied accessories work?

I don't like people trying to read my chest, lol. Keep in mind I don't want to look like Derek J or Lawrence from ATL housewives. I want it all to look like it could naturally work as a men's outfit or a part of a male outfit.

Graphic tees are the best of doing it, but you could also do a shirt like this:
    image1xl.jpgimage1xl.jpg
The dark colors help recede, while the light colors give your top half focus, and less focus on waist and midsection. The second shirt gives a grey wash and the top half has all the print and focus, making it appear larger. I'm not finding great pictures, but yea!!!

Yeah actually works. Pair that with a blazer and some leather jeans or black jeans that would look hot,

Your fedoras are all going in the garbage disposal, but other than that you are pretty perf. You're also required to wear bright colors every day of your life because your golden tan permits it, and must stick to straight leg pants so you can at least pass for a vers-top.

Blazer and leather jeans is pretty much my wardrobe in a nutshell. I made a New Year's resolution to wear more color. It's May and I have one yellow tank top.

I don't want to look like a hipster though, lol.

I'm trying to find heels I like too. I've gone down a shoe size! Either that or I lost water, whichever I can fit into a fourteen again!

I'm gonna post some shoes I like and you tell me yay or nay. Hold on...

I'm not too apt about a lot of color on the rest of my body but shoes are where I make an exception.

MarronB81 saidI will bite. My main problem with fashion is that I am built like a football player. My shoulders are broad so shirts either just fit the shoulders and billow or look skintight. Also, my thighs are so big i can only fit my legs in relaxed fit jeans. Basically, the only clothes that look good on me are workout clothes.

And, if I should ask some additional icebreaker questions: what should I be wearing? or what brands should I be looking at? I could really use a real makeover so go for it man.

A tailor is the only fool-proof way, and you can usually get 8-10 dress shirts tailored for under $50. Just buy shirts that fit you up top and the rest can be altered. There's stores that sell clothes built for athletic body types, but they tend to come in dumpy styles.

And relaxed jeans are also your best bet, but higher-end brands will use a softer fabric and better fit so you aren't wearing carpenter jeans. And stay away from bootcut at all costs. And shorts are good.

even though i could give a fuck less about being fashionable, fashion, clothes, sneakers or whatever and am content with looking bummy, shoot for it.
