easy solution to the problem. Everybody comes out at once. If eight (or more) players all came out at once then there would be less a chance of them all disappointing fans like it was described in the article

I'm not clear to me why they told officials, if they're afraid to come out. Seems that would increase the chances that their names will be leaked.

The Chairman of their association has already revealed the story of them approaching him, and even said those closeted players are 8 in number. Which will encourage press speculation as to who they are. Why did he say anything?

Or is their tactic to test the waters, through the Chairman's comments? And get the PFA to throw its official support behind the gay players, to make their coming out easier?

I`m not surprised they haven`t come out. Despite European countries being open towards gay people in many nations, they don`t want it in their sports- especially football. As you head east through Europe, the homophobia and racism is pretty palpable. Countries like Ukraine, Romania, Hungary, Poland, Croatia, etc. can be pretty scary places to be gay.

Oh, you mean the other east.
