So I see this on facebook, and I just got angry.

This was posted by the group, "The Australian Tea Party."

    This is my response:

Get your facts straight. LGBT Democrats were organized against this several years ago when you Republicans were disappointingly silent. Now you want to make this a 'wedge issue' against Democrats?? That's ignorant...

You want to appease the enemy by being nice to them but you treat conservatives from your own country with anger and fury that would be better directed at our enemies, who would HANG YOU and ALL OF US like in the picture without even thinking about it. But you won't see this because you ignore me, so, OH WELL.......

How many words are allowed on a demotivational poster anyway? They're doing it wrong!

    1) Obama and the Democrats' policy toward Iran has been far from "appeasement", quite the opposite, mimicking Republican calls for war (not a good thing). Obama campaigned in 2008 that he would consider supporting airstrikes against Iran.

    2) Iran is not "the enemy" - it is a country full of millions of people that so happens to be under the rule of an oppressive regime. The people have protested and fought against the regime - war is not going to solve anything, except bomb innocent civilians. Iran is only "the enemy" because of OIL. If Syria had as much oil as Iran, they would have been invaded years ago. Meanwhile Saudi Arabia is also a horrible regime but gets a pass in the media and by the government.

    3) Focusing on Iran but appeasing theocratic regimes like Saudi Arabia is hypocrisy. Bush was friendly and nice to the Saudi regime even though they are an absolute monarchy and theocracy with very little real democracy (only elections are municipal, women still cannot vote in those elections, homosexuality is punishable by death penalty). Saudi Arabia was an ally of the US during the Gulf War (under Bush 1). But because Saudi Arabia is not an "enemy" I guess they're okay.

What about the gays of Saudi Arabia? I guess they don't matter. Nothing in this whole imperialist scheme has anything to do with the rights of gays, all the new "democratic" and "free" governments in Iraq and Afghanistan have Islamic law in their constitution...the US just wants lackeys and puppets, doesn't care at all about how liberal or secular they are on anything , except how much oil to liberally give to the US.

And it was Reagan who supported the Islamist mujahideen in Afghanistan in the 80s.

So, what's up with an "Australian" Tea Party upset enough about US Politricks to make demotivational posters wordier than most of my RJ threads?

Are these disaffected Qantas workers or something?

I can't wait what for the "Antarctic Tea Party" comes up with next! icon_lol.gif

Let's also not ignore the American Evangelical leaders who support the Ugandan "Kill the Gays" bill.

Chick-fil-a donated to a group who supports that bill and that's what part of the boycott was about. But to Republicans and some dis-illusioned gays, it's about free speech and chicken.

The enemy is extremism, regardless of what religion or politics or geographical boundaries it identifies with.

Amongst the donations to anti-gay rights groups, Chick-fil-a donated $25K to The Family Research Council who, through WinShape corporate charity foundation, actively lobbied against a Congressional resolution that would denounce the Ugandan "Kill the gays" bill on the grounds that it "threatens the protection of fundamental human rights." FRC claims that its lobbying was against the idea that being gay was not a fundamental human right.

The enemy is extremist ISLAM, which is what/who is hanging those men. Obama has a policy of apologizing to and supporting them, like in Libya (where he sent help WITHOUT authorization from congress) where violence is skyrocketing.

It`s always edifying to see conservatives getting worked up about the immorality of the death penalty.....

American gay men have more to fear from the extreme(Christian) conservatives in their own country than Islamic fundamentalists in the Middle East, etc. The former already hold real power across the country and will use it against them. I don`t doubt that.

What's it like to be so extremely naive? You can't really believe this. It's right out of the Neville Chamberlain school of naivete. Dangerous naivete. If this belief becomes popular, God Help us.

Given the recent poll that showed 29% of Americans think an armed rebellion in their country might soon be necessary, perhaps you should be looking south rather than east for your biggest threat to homeland security.
