After weeks of searching and rejection, I just got an internship in Austin, TX! The only problem is I don't know anyone who lives there and I need to find affordable housing. Does anyone have any knowledge of the Austin area? Or maybe someone could direct me to a apartment website? Any information is appreciated. Thank you so much!!

hey man I gotcha...just moved here myself and own this town already.

find a place near work +++ because transportation sucks ass; they're always closing something, for some party, fun run, POTUS, craft shows, Bats, 'Hook'm' shit, dope party, weaving contest, manson, Pink, Plain white T,s ect. ect. ect. and I-35 is a parking lot 24/7, because people would rather set for hours then pay to drive 80 on the by-pass.
If not, go south east of the river--looking around 800, some cool student rooms for 400 if your boyfriend would let you, frat-boy up *sigh.
I'll email you my realtor's sight...can't be to choosy, especially for one bedroom and forget getting a house, most are leased before they are listed.

Correct me if I'm wrong.. But it looks like Austin has only 1 bus route and 1 train route. And they both pretty much go nowhere useful. icon_neutral.gif

Someone explain Austin real estate to me. Why do the cost of houses vary so much? It's like one neighborhood has houses for $200K. The 1 mile down the road, houses are like in the high $300K. And then sprinkled in between, there are houses in the $100K range. What gives?

Also, condos near downtown are pricey. They're almost at LA prices. Wow!
