I train by myself and all the guys at my gym have a stare on their face as if they're scared of me or that I'm gonna secks their butt if given the chance so i don't ask for a spot. It'd be awesome if i had a boyfriend that had a bf% of 10% to maybe train with... In the meantime, I'm just avoiding eye contact and staring off at the rack with this longing in my soul.. Can i maybe find a spot here on rj? icon_question.gif

This is what I do when a guy asks me to spot for him.

Maybe, but finding someone on RJ who is both in your town and who lives close enough to attend the same gym will be a challenge.

I'd just ask some random guys at the gym anyway. You might be reading too much into their glances (and if not, at least you'll know).

I duno but not asking can get real embarrassing, too. Tuesday, for the first time ever, toward the end of my workout I failed without a spotter. I was rescued by this Asian woman, LOL! It was *SO* embarrassing. icon_redface.gif

If I am using too much weight and would need a spot I just move to a machine. Problem solved.

Did u cancel your membership? I would've cancelled my membership.

You might've failed at making that lift but you're not a failure because you didn't quit. There's something to be proud of in all of this.

You know what's worse? Being asked for a spot by a guy who looks like he could bench your car and worrying what will happen if he actually needs your help.

Hahahaha happened to a buddy of mine. He asked a guy to spot him and the guy had no idea what to do. He lifted his arms before he had a chance to even set up for the lift and ended up dropping the weight on his quad and the other on his shoulder... Then the guy asks him: "can you usually lift those?". LOL

It's a miracle that guy left alive that day.

It sounds like you have really bad anxiety. See a psychiatrist that could prescribe you something to help you overcome this.

The guy I lift with sometimes wants to try what seems like crazy amounts of weight. Since he helps me a lot when he's there, I don't want to sound like an ass, I finally told him once that I was worried if he got in trouble I wouldn't be much help. He's cool about it and we still help each other, and he doesn't have to feel bad if he calls in a bigger guy if needed. He might have felt bad saying "this is too much for you" too but that's better than taking stupid chances.

Oh hell no, I haven't quit. It was embarrassing but it was also kind of funny seeing this old guy trapped under a barbell and this short Asian woman helping me get it back on the pins. The fail was because I'd started off very heavy and was working my way down the pyramid to lighter weight with higher reps and on the last one just literally failed. Usually I can feel when that's about to happen but not this time, LOL. No way am I quitting. Just learned one more lesson, that's all.
