There's one called 'The New Normal'. It concerns two gay guys who are trying to get a baby through surrogacy. There relationship is kinda cute and occassionally very stereotypical, but it's innocent and well-intentioned none the less.

The New Normal and Partners both were canceled! Neither will see a season 2.

Husbands is a short and incredibly funny webseries written by Brad Bell (he plays Cheeks) and Jane Espenson who was a head writer on Buffy for years. It's worth the time and they are currently filming season 3!

Not a sitcom BUT, The Outs as well as Eastsiders are 2 other gay webseries with great writing and acting. Eastsiders can be found on LOGO online. The Outs can be googled or found through Facebook!

Yeah they axed it on Friday! NBC itself has dropped a shit-ton of shows this year! They need a new person in charge of programming... They aren't doing very well as a station~

Why? They are all just gonna be stereotypical gays
I do have to admit that fems are the funniest but I don't think I can stand a sitcom of it

It's such a shame, I think the most interesting part was about to come since it's the raising rather than the surrogacy issue where you can devolop a good storyline.

Like a friend of mine who's in the industry told me: "that's what sells" people don't wanna see a hot gay guy, who dresses "normal" and who doesn't say fabulous every 2 sentences. It's not "funny" or true for the audience (tho obviously we know that not all of us fit all the stereotypes).

There's filth and stupidity on TV and people say they hate it and can't stand it yet the media puts it on cuz that's what is selling, meaning people DO like it

There's always room for better story lines when you get past the first season! NBC is awfully quick to cancel shows though! Revolution was picked up, and I'm glad for that, I thought the airing schedule was going to eff that up too!

Happy Endings had a non-stereotypical gay lead. Too bad it was cancelled too.icon_confused.gif

They are trying to get Happy Endings picked up on another network. That was a funny show, kinda surprised it was cancelled!

I think it's also a matter of taking risks. I mean why would they take a risk on showing something that maybe won't sell if they already have a "formula" on selling stereotypes.

Well isn't that one of the biggest modern issues in our society. I mean we want everything NOW and if we don't have it we panic (if we don't have reception, internet....). So it's the same thing for NBC, they want results asap even if the series may need a while to create a stronger storyline.

I respect what your saying but don't you think that it was important to have that kind of topic on national tv? Cuz if it becomes something regular in people's minds then they'd start to accept it, be a bit more open about gay adoption.

(Even if that meant using sterotypes and clearly being able to see who was the "woman" and the "man" in the relationship).

ya i get what your saying...just it's not going to be that show. I just found it poorly written, and not very funny. You can try and get whatever topic on t.v.....but if the quality behind that topic isn't very good, it's not going to stick around. Just felt like that show was forced to "fit together".

OH! UH! UH! the girly moma gay stereotype has got to go. If a masculine guy like me was doing a sitcom then it would be successful and no more stereotype. Or maybe a new one of gays being weird, I dunno. But the whole girly man jingamahooz is killing me!

more important than a gay sit com or a gay drama or gay movies is the fact that gay characters live in everyday sit coms, dramas and movies.

When Golden Girls ended, we kidded around that they should have four guys rent that same house and -- over time -- have each of them reveal traits that were similar to one of the four GG characters... not overtly, but just tongue-in-cheek enough so that people would say "hey, wait a minute!"
