How about some club reviews for the Suncoast?

I've heard about a few LGBT or LGBT Friendly clubs and have more questions than answers about where to go. I thought others and myself might benefit from published first hand reviews of these places. I understand it often depends upon the night and what you expect so lets keep that in mind.

I've been to these two but will hold my comments until I see if this thread is supported.

    The Phoenix Club (Largo)

    The Tampa Dungeon (Brandon)

I've heard of these but have not been. I hope to get out somewhere tonight...

    Throb (Sarasota)

    Barrel 87 (Sarasota)

    Ivory Lounge (Sarasota)

    The Honey Pot (Ybor City)

    Georgie's Alibi (St. Pete)

Thanks for helping us help ourselves.

    Some that I like:

Honey Pot in Ybor City - they have a good Friday night if you are into dancing and don't mind a loud environment.

G Bar in Ybor City - probably the busiest of the gay clubs on Saturday night. Kind of loud and kind of crowded.

Liquid and Bradley's in Ybor City - I think both of these places attract a bit of an older crowd and are a bit more low key than Honey Pot or G Bar.

City Side in Tampa - this one has a neighborhood bar feel to it. More mature crowd. The patio area out back is nice if you want to actually have a conversation and be able to hear each other.

Georgie's Alibi in St. Petersburg - neighborhood bar and grill. I like their burgers.

Wine Exchange in Tampa - Not gay but very gay friendly. One of my favorite places in Tampa. Good food and nice atmosphere.

Alibi is ok if you like the snooty "$30K/yr millionaire" type.

Haven't been to the others, so I don't know.

Really? Are you talking about the one in St. Petersburg? It seemed like a cozy, neighborhood type place to me on the times I have been there. Although, having said that, it seems that you'll find at least a few pretentious and snooty guys in any group of gay men.

@ Sashaman Very Nice post, Thank You. Good to get the new places added to the list.

We hopped the bay to spy in on Georgie's last night. I really enjoyed the sound, video, and lighting in the dance area. Loved the remixes and the energy that seemed to match the crowd, both increasing as the night progressed. No surprises, we do have experience in the fetish community, so ya know not easily shocked. We're not people judgers, but hey we do watch and form opinions that we can keep to ourselves. ;~)

A great aspect of Georgie's is the layout with its specialized offerings. In the sports bar we could have watched our Lady Gator's Softball team win the SEC Championship (it was on but we recorded it so we rushed out of the room).

I already mentioned how much I enjoyed the dance area though I did not dance. Getting a beverage there was not a problem and the special had a good many options.

The Patio Bar showed us much potential though we just passed through there as well without eating.

The best thing about it I think was we had zero smoke in us or on us. We like Georgie's and we'll be back with friends that already like it.

If you liked Georgie's Alibi and an outdoor area, you might also like Flamingo in St. Petersburg. It can be fun to hang out there at the pool area and pool bar on Sunday's when the weather is nice.

That sounds good and bad. It is true that I'm a huge fan of outdoors and water. The bad this is I don't yet have the outward appearance need to comfortably display 'side the pool... LOL. Having said that, I won't wear tennis shoes to the beach but I might hang poolside in shorts and a shirt. ;~)

Its good to hear about so many places to stop in to take it easy. Definitely going to have to make the rounds.

I like G Bar a lot although it could be hit or miss. I suppose any club is like that though.

Made it to Honeypot a couple of times on Fridays. I thought it was cool. Btw, if you want to go upstairs, there's an extra charge. I never paid although if I remember correctly they kept promoting the dancers as wearing less?

Georgie's felt like a neighborhood bar to me. The food is good. It was cool during the week. Only went once on a Saturday night. Maybe it was just coincidence but I felt like I was at a Home Depot night club with all of the lesbians that were there.

Hung out at The Flamingo a couple of times. It made for a relaxing Sunday afternoon.

Flamingo Memorial Day Sunday was great! A nice tour, a cold beer, some good conversation and later some grooving to DJ O's handy work. A great mix of people and relaxed atmosphere. Definitely a new favorite.

P.S. the burger was pretty terrific and decent service for the patron volume.

So Hey, Flamingo Resort has one night a week of Country Music, Line Dancing, and a little saw dust to stomp your boots in believe it or not. Not enough could be said about the crowd. Very Welcoming and talented.
