I am looking to get some feedback, maybe from others who have been in the same situation. Simply put, I hate my job, the thought of going into work actually makes me ill, it is a toxic environment of stress and typical coporate America bullshit. the dilemma is it gives me a paycheck which I can pay my mortgage with but I'm miserable. I've been doing acting work on the side for several years and this year finally landed an agent, some of the work I get is paid but often it's not. Acting is what I really want to do.
I almost quit at work on Friday because it was a day from hell. I've decided life is too short to spend it in misery. But how do you quit a job you hate when you have to pay the bills?

    Thanks guys

You can quit if you truly want, but doing so without having another steady form of income is irresponsible.

If you really want to quit, find another job. But don't quit until you've actually secured another job.

This. Artists of all kinds, and some actors are also artists (but very few) usually find ways to survive to continue to create their art. No one takes a job they hate and then goes on to expect that spending hours a day around dolts and morons will not affect their creative process. You are right, life is too short to spend 8 hours a day in a prison of your own making.
