Men or women. I know, I know, it's impossible to make a certain statement about this........but sometimes I look around the busy sidewalk, or the subway or bus, and it seems there are way more overweight and out of shape women than men.

    What do you think?

Lots of overweight men + women. . . but I agree with you, based on what I see.

Well, women are genetically programmed to hold on to their excess weight as they are supposed to be in a perpetual state of pregnancy. However, men are programmed to gain weight quickly but lose it fast so they can hunt for dinner.

I think women have fewer opportunities for sports activities though.

If you ever want to perform a really statistical test on obesity, just go to one of the Casinos on the Las Vegas Strip. I just spent most of a week at the Excaliber on business but I had to walk through the Casino area. I have never seen so many obese people, of all ages in one place in my life. And then they compound it by sitting at the slot machines, smoking all day. I just can't get over the ones that drive around in the powered carts with oxygen tanks on the back and a cigarette between their fingers. Makes you want to dive for cover before the place explodes. All you hear is Hack Hack; Kaching Kaching: Hack Hack: "Hey, pass me one of them Krispy Kreams."

I did enjoy the gym at the Excaliber. Really nice set-up with great equipment. Also did a walk/hike from there up to the Wynn at the other end of the Strip and back. And I didn't touch any of the slots or tables. As you can see, I lead a healthy, if quite dull life. But this way I know I am coming back from Vegas with a lot more money that I went there with and not the other way around.

PS to last post, obesity seemed to be evenly split between the sexes.

I agree. Also, newsflash, there are more women out there. I think we will see a shift in the next generation. I tend to see more overweight male children than female. Vanity is increasing and girls seem to have taken the bait more than boys.
