Don't think you have enough? What would it be like if you were rich?!?

"Every year we gaze enviously at the lists of the richest people in world.
Wondering what it would be like to have that sort of cash. But where
would you sit on one of those lists? Here's your chance to find out."

Well there are many ways to define "rich".. monetarily, "rich" in health or in number of family and friends. Your life can be "rich" or "enriched" by how you live it and how you treat others.

A truly rich life has nothing to do with money, its satifaction with yourself and how you treat others.

These are all true, I'm talking about monetary wealth. Nearly everyone on this board is far and away in the top tier of wealth with respect to the entire human population.

Are you saying that people with no money are better than those who are wealthy?icon_question.gif

I think everyone is equal, no matter how much money they have got.

Having money and being kind are not mutually exclusive.

Haha that link was a joke. I am in the top 4.62% making 35K lol. Woo hoo. I would rather be average and happy instead of rich and miserable.

I'm not quite in the top 10% globally. Yay for the wealth of being a PhD student. Of course, the site also doesn't take into account cost of living in different areas, which makes things somewhat misleading. As it mentions, $8 in the developed world could buy you 15 organic apples; in Honduras it could buy you 25 apple trees. There are definite advantages to living in the developed world compared to living in Honduras, but that does need to be taken into account.

Hah, yeah I realize it would be fairly high up compared to all the world's population, but I never thought that grad-student stipend would put me in the top 10% (8.91%). I was guessing top 25% or something, damn.

But I do wonder how accurate that is. It's not just how much money you make, but how far that money goes. True, some people make a lot less, but their food and housing costs a lot less too, and it doesn't look like that website is taking this into account.

I don't have a large income per month, but I'm rich because I owe very little, just a little over two times what my yearly retirement is. I have 3 nice country places on water. and my time is totally mine to determine where or which place I spend it at. Add friends and family to share it with and what more could i ask !!!

I don't have a large income per month, so not high on that scale, but I'm rich because I owe very little, just a little over two times what my yearly retirement is. I have 3 nice country places on water. and my time is totally mine to determine which place I spend it at, ans what I do while there. Add friends and family to share it with, time and oppertunity to travel, and what more could i ask !!!

Ditto...though I don't think all rich people are miserable. The majority of people I know who make a lot of money are actually pretty nice people...but then, I wouldn't hang out with them if they were shitty in the first place. icon_smile.gif

I won't talk about money, but I'm very rich in opportunities that have come my way; love from family and friends; the greatest education and work experiences imaginable and the best of everything with respect to health and happiness.

If you measure your wealth only in material things, you miss the point of wealth. I have more than enough money and material items. My wealth is in my family, friends and good health. and I need to laugh when the link said I was in the top 0.5%.....icon_lol.gif

Thanks for the site. I've often thought that most of us in the US and probably in Europe and other developed countries of the world are living the wildest dream of most of the other people in the world.

If accurate, this site confirms that.

I am in the top .91% and I'm semi-retired, live in a condo, and I have three vehicles: Grand Cherokee 5 years old, Corvette 15 years old, Chrysler 73 years old. I travel frequently, have terrific friends and family, and I'm involved in many hobbies/activities Oh, yes, I have health insurance and I'm generally in good health.

And one more thing: I'm happy as I am.

I've worked with immigrants from Mexico, Latin and South America, and Africa. None of them came her for a vacation. They work hard to earn what I have--just like my grandparents.

Like I say: Life is good-enjoy!
