Have any of you done one or ever gotten one done on you? Does it really work if you had an experience with one?

In short (not of the "Hollywood kind", mind you), yes, the name of Jesus Christ is very powerful. For me, the experiences (personally and of others) were one of the many existential reasons for believing that Jesus does, indeed, love us and had come to save us.

I've witnessed miracle healings twice where terminal cancer inexplicably disappeared but exorcisms I don't believe in. Except this one.

Re: Healing and Exorcisms in the Name of Jesus before Jesus Left

Luke 10:17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.

They said the devils were subject to them, not subject to God, but subject to them. In other words, they commanded the devils to go and they went. Or as the New Living Translation puts it:

When the seventy-two disciples returned, they joyfully reported to him, "Lord, even the demons obey us when we use your name!"

After the resurrection the disciples continued healing in Jesus name

    ~ ~ ~

For this Jesus was stoned to death:

And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. John 14: 13

The forgiveness of sins, healing and exorcisms in the name of Jesus were viewed as idolatry. The traditional Jews only wanted God to forgive sins. They wanted God to heal and remove demons. Replacing God with the name of Jesus made the name of Jesus and idol. So, the Jews stoned Jesus. When Stephen continued with the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the father, he was stoned to death also.

Honi, the Circle Drawer was also stoned to death after he reached the level later achieved by Jesus: having "the winds and wave obey his will."

Okay, in response to the swearing above: you could have sworn Jesus was crucified. No. He wasn't. The Koran says so. The Talmud specifically says Jesus the Nazarene was stoned to death.

The person who was crucified was a follower of Jesus who was crucified in 70 A.D. related to the Jewish Revolt and the destruction of the Temple. Josephus took him down from the cross and had him revived. The crucified man probably revolted against Rome because he believed in Jesus' message that Jews should live under righteousness and the Son of Man and not under Rome. The crucified man who survived crucifixion was likely from Edessa, the first kingdom to be converted to Christianity.

If you think the writers of the Talmud and the Koran are wrong, at least know what they hold to be the case. Remember Christians do not know Jesus was crucified, their creeds say they believe Jesus was crucified.

I was part of an evangelical church and had a few exorcisms performed on me. It mostly comes down to spiritual abuse and mind control.

Charismatic churches were always focused on demons, generational curses etc... Being gay was a " spirit of perversion ".

I found it all extremely damaging and very anxiety inducing .

No, it does not really work. The demons are still inside of me. Fortunately, they're a sexy, well-muscled, naked bunch.

I study demonology, and have two degrees related to the field. I've had numerous experiences related to it, but I've never actually witnessed a formal exorcism of a possessed person yet. I've been there for places and people being cleansed, and spirits being driven out of idols, but it would certainly be interesting to see a fully possessed person be exorcised.

I've got a book coming in the mail right now from Italy, a collection of works on exorcism from 1610. Should be a fun read!

    Why do you ask?

David Icke has written about reptilians attaching themselves to humans.

Categorically speaking (without getting into specifics) corporate America (military industrial complex, financial institutions, big pharma, the food industry, the insurance industry, big education) has attached itself to the U.S. government via lobbying and has sucked a lot of life out of us.

The church has attached itself to us, failing to nurture us about reincarnation, Astrology, chakras, aura, the healing arts, the accuracy of its own history, feng shui, white magic, a notion of God from 100,000 BCE to 12,000 BCE.

When has a church taught you how to sit on a cold mountain with such body mastery that your body melts the snow? Wouldn't that be salvation?

If demonic possession is a correct diagnosis, "deliver us from evil" said during your daily Our Father prayer is a daily nutrient of exorcism.

Yes, I'm talking about two things, if someone claims: demonic possession and being a host to people and entities feeding off your life force is another thing. Then there is haunting of dwelling spaces in addition to the haunting of your incarnation.

Yes, we are constantly bailing water out of our boat. Going to the gym and doing yoga, pilates gets some bad energy (demon) out of our incarnation. I used to love jogging the Reservoir at Central Park because I could feel my spirit free itself from bad energy (demons).

Forgiveness is a type of exorcism as well.

It's important to note that it's not what Hollywood portrays.

Furthermore, it's important to make the distinction between demonic possession and harassment and various degrees of that.

And most importantly, Christians have authority over them as given by Jesus Christ, though most don't recognize/know that they have such authority or how to exercise it.

Read through the bible and look closely at the parts that talk about mental illnesses.

What? No mention in the bible of mental illnesses?

Perhaps because they didn't know what mental illnesses were, so demons made more sense to them. icon_wink.gif
