For years the "Wichita Eagle" only endorsed republicans in this state. It has changed in recent years. What I thought was interesting is what they said:

"We have enthusiastically endorsed Republican Pat Roberts in his past elections, appreciating his capable work on behalf of Kansans. But we concluded that Roberts should be held accountable for his deep involvement in disastrous intelligence decisions and for his smear tactics this election- particularly when his oopponent, Democrat Jim Slattery is a quality candidate who would also serve Kansas well....."

Unfortunately Roberts is well funded and while Slattery was a congressman for several terms until 1994 in the Kansas City area, he has been at a disadvantage and isn't expected to win. I was also saddened to see the
"Eagle" did endorse our right wing congressman, Todd Tiahrt who was swept in in 1994 after defeating our incredibly successful 18 year incumbent,
    Dan Glickman.

What are you seeing in your area as far as endorsements? Do you think
they have much impact on your state and local elections?

Too bad polling numbers have been flat since march in that race. Obama would have to have the longest coattails in the world to reach this race!

I am a little disappointed with my junior senator. She is hardly playing a roll in NYS politics in terms of endorsements. Chuck Schummer is out there stumping for a number of candidates (The Dems are favored to take the senate this cycle!). But Clinton has been out for Obama so I can't get too mad at her.
