"With the ultraconservative Ken Cuccinelli as their candidate for governor, it only makes sense that Virginia Republican delegates picked far-right pastor and failed U.S. Senate candidate E. W. Jackson as their nominee for Lt. Governor.

Jackson is running on his “message to inspire and unite Virginia,” which apparently includes uniting Virginians around bigotry towards gays and lesbians, comparing Democrats to slave masters and the Antichrist and warning that President Obama is a secret Muslim.

    Jackson on gays and lesbians:

Referred to gays and lesbians as “perverted,” “degenerate,” “spiritually darkened” and “frankly very sick people psychologically, mentally and emotionally.”
Said regarding homosexuality: “it poisons culture, it destroys families, it destroys societies; it brings the judgment of God unlike very few things that we can think of.”

    This ticket is super scary.

I moved to Virginia in large part because it is a purple state and I wanted my vote to count for something, after decades of living in DC and Hawaii. But between the possibility of these neanderthals getting elected and the possible (likely) overturn of DOMA, we are seriously considering whether to sell our house and move back to DC or to Maryland.

" on Saturday the Virginia GOP nominated three statewide candidates whose views on homosexuality and marriage equality range from unwavering opposition to bigoted to insane. "

    http://www.cato.org/blog/virginia-republican-candidates-not-joining-21st-century

    also from Cato:

" there’s a reason that a report by the Republican National Committee found that

voters see the GOP as “scary,” “narrow minded,” and “out of touch” – and

the Virginia Republican ticket is part of that reason.

I live in Virginia and I am so done here. The homophobia, racism, and ignorance I can't deal with it. Virginia is not for lovers. These anti-gay politicians have been driving me up the wall for too long, so after college I am bringing my butt to California, DC, Austin TX, Australia, Iberian Peninsula, or Fort Lauderdale, FL because I can't deal with this. What is wrong with people and these politicians.

Florida and Texas won't be any better, on a statewide basis.

    It's a possibility.

Even though we're closer to downtown DC now than we would be in many parts of DC itself.

True. South Florida might be passable but don't bank on it, believe it or not I know a lot of rednecks down there too

This guy is a real piece of work.
And, I hope that his evil, ignorant big mouth loses the election for him and his running mate.
