Found guilty of making false statements (all 7 counts).... on the senate disclosure forms.

The longest serving republican (who is running for reelection) to the senate may exit into retirement by force.
Will his seat finally turn over to a democrat?

    Gosh, I hope so!

Alaska deserves public servants who care for their citizens' quality of life and their state environment in a healthy manner.

Let's start a betting pool on how much time he serves...

There's a 5 year term that goes with each count
Let's see ...that comes out to >>>>> Zero

I'll bet you he gets no time

Yep, no time. He may even get the conviction overturned, with the kind of influence he has.

I have no problem with Stevens serving hard time. But let's be fair and equal. What about a trial for Rep William Jefferson of New Orleans, LA. You remember him - the guy who took $100,000 in an FBI sting and stored it in his freezer during Hurricane Katrina.

What's fair for the Republicans should be fair for the Democrats. Or am I being a starry-eyed idealist?

Boy corruption investigations on Stevens, Murkowski, and Young. With Palin making an ass out of herself will Alaska be blue in all four of her major seats?

I--along with the millions of anthropogenic climate change supporting scientists, educators, students, and laymen--cheered and appluaded this verdict. Stevens has been one of the most outspoken politicans against antrhopogenic climate change. Afterall, why wouldn't he... with Big Oil in his wallet.

Partisan politics should not be brought into this. The difference between Jefferson and Stevens is Stevens HAS been convicted in a court of law and it guilty. Jerson is not guilty... yet. Should he go to trial? Honestly I don't know much about that case... I'll leave it up to the professionals. But Republican or Democrat it doesn't matter. Politicans of both parties are humans... and humans make mistakes which involve consequences.

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Well so far, there have been not consequences for bush cheney, or anyone who has helped cover for them. I know !!! they've not been charged with anything yet !!! I rather doubt that consequences and these two will ever meet !!!

I heard this evening that Sen. Stevens gets to keep his Senate pension.
