Through all the ordeals life throws my way - I'm still in awe of the beauty life brings me. I like to ride my bicycle about 5 miles to the end of this town. Their is a deserted field, an amphitheater, and a lake in the distance. I'll end my biking journey on top of a hill overlooking the lake. I enjoy watching the sun go down, the boats cruising in the distance, the splashing of the water, the jumping of fish, and the breeze as it sings its usual tune. Nothing matters in that moment. No bills, no stress, no... nothing. It's me - enjoying life at this particular moment in time.

Sometimes I'll climb in the trees and remember how it was to be a kid again. I think I'll always be a kid at heart, and will always enjoy things like that.

This is just one thing here to remind me not to give up or give in. Life is hard. It's beat the shit out of me and still does, but through it all I need to remember one thing:

The world is not a cold, dead, place.

I live in Philadelphia. I love sitting on a bench in Rittenhouse Square on a beautiful day, one of 4 park squares that William Penn designated when he did a layout of the city. Just sit there & feel the sun on u peeking thru the branches of oak leaves, the temperate breeze keeping u cool, hearing kids laughing & playing & birds tweaking. Ur mind free just to be icon_smile.gif ......Seeing 2 toddlers, a boy & girl, excited, laughing, playing, sprinkling torn grass over their Mother's long hair......a perfect vision of Spring icon_smile.gif .....Imagining the countless times this cyclical moment has happened in a park or meadow since it first occurred......

There is no special occasion I could think of... I enjoy every moment fate throws at me. Though at the sad moment it frustrates me, when. I look back into it, it doesn't hurt that much.

The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others'
    -M.K.Gandhi

This quote has a deep meaning & one truly understands it only when they apply it in their life, practically.
I always find joy when someone or some animal(feeding or taking care) or plants(nursing & planting) could make use of me. In a good way.

A bunch of great memories / things that thrilled me as a kid:

    * My first Schwinn Stingray bike - - bought after I earned the money for it.
    * First time I jumped off of a diving board.
    * First time I sneaked out the family car for a night ride.
    * First time I went out at night - unescorted and not watched by adults.
    * First plane ride (take offs and landings thrilled me).
    * First time I got paid $50.00 for detailing someone's car (I was 14).
    * First time my friends and I pulled a fire alarm at my elementary school.
    * First time my friends and I found and devoured porn cover to cover.
    * First time I saw other guys naked in the school showers (age 13).
    * First time my friends and I j/o'd in my attic.
    * First gay kiss (I was on Cloud 9).
    * First time I topped or bottomed (sheer ecstasy)
    * Buying my first car (a used classic 1967 GTO).

Well the last time I felt that way was when I went surfing for the first time a last month. It was on my bucket list for a long time. When I was in the water I was smiling all the time thinking "I did it.".

Feel good thread: Name a happy moment(s) in ur life that made u feel so alive icon_smile.gif .....

When my husband says he loves me.

When somebody shares with me a new thought I never had before.

When a musician plays something so beautiful I cry.

When I sip a perfect gin martini.

When I fall asleep in my husband's arms.

When... well, it's silly to go on and list. I just love to be alive, and every moment can be happy, if I know how to make it. And if it's not happy, the fault is likely my own.

That time I was mountain biking really fast across this really skinny wooden bridge, suspended a few feet off the ground...and fell off. It didn't really feel good, but it did feel like I was "so alive" when I found my bike (~30 feet away) and continued riding. icon_lol.gif

It makes me feel good on the inside when people respect me, and I know I have done a good job at whatever comes my way.

Earlier today, I got a promotion at work, and a 50 percent salary increase! Last week, I saw a position within my company that interested me. I was told I qualify, however, there is some software they use that I have not seen before. A different, and slightly lesser position was suggested to me and I went for the alternate one. I got it.

Which is good. Earlier in the week I learned my current job is being phased out. So I still have a job with my company and a nice increase.

Now that would make anyone feel good.

The night of my first child's birth as I lay in bed after spending the day at the hospital holding my son, marveling at his likeness to me, his purity, and having this most joyous thought, "I'm a dad".

First kiss with my boyfriend on our first date. The first snow of the year was falling, we hugged, looked each other in the eye, and just went for it. It was a truly electrifying experience.

Those are the moments that exemplify my idea of religion- moments that were so wonderful, you're left feeling like a different person. I take in those moments and live them in full while they are present. The world reveals to you an immeasurable amount of heart ache, sadness and stress. Enjoy these life affirming moments when they happen to grace you. When the moments dissipate, say goodbye with a smile on your face; you just became a fraction more enlightened.
We needn't wait for an afterlife to experience these times. They exist here and now. Don't miss them, I say. Pay attention.
