Haha I hate that some people have no clue that there are Asians who are born in the US like me. Also when a white person is asked about their ethnic backgrounds, they expect more than one answer. Well guess what? Expect at least 2 from me!!

That video REALLY hits the spot. That's how ALL the conversations I USED to have progressed when meeting new people, so NOW what I say is; " I'm from originally from NY, now live in Philly, AND I'm first generation Chinese-American."

Sometimes, if I'm feeling mischievous, I let them drag on with the awkward questions. I have yet to turn the interrogations back on them...maybe I should try one of these days. icon_twisted.gif

Funny, I've never gotten that... Born and raised Canadian.
However, I have told coworkers one time that if they want a good nanny to get a Filipino. They agreed, and said they never mentioned it because they thought it would offend me.

stacked312 saidthis.fucking.made.my night. I always get, "You're definitely not like the other Asians, like Japanese, Chinese, and stuff like that... Filipinos are SOOO different..."

Christ I hate the Midwest and Midwest people, help me.

Hahaha, yes! I get "you're not a real Asian" comment a lot. It's whatever. Philippines is considered to be part of Asia. So... Asian. lol

Lol, I have a friend who was adopted from Korea into an Irish family, and she gets this all the time when people ask her how an Asian got into Irish dancing and why she speaks with an Irish accent.
She showed me this video and we all had a good laugh.
