What places around the world can you find the best view of a sunrise or sunset?

Sounds lame, but one of the best sunrises I ever saw was in the Oklahoma panhandle.

I went to San Diego, California last September, and the sunset out across the bay and Coronado Island was spectacular. It was so great that I almost took the job I interviewed for there just because of the sunset. But then I realized I wouldn't be able to afford a house with that view in Southern California! icon_biggrin.gif

Used to live right on a bay in west Florida. Hard to top that.

California has always been known for beautiful sunsets...the colors vary depending on the season/weather/location

One of my favorite events happens every few years: UCLA puts on the World Festival of Sacred Music and the last event is at the Ocean called "Honoring The Sea". This is not a very good clip of it but it is a beautiful event:

I remember one year going with some good friends, including my best friend (who has since past away). He had a dealt with years of life threatening illness from complications of doing too many years of dialysis and when we went to this event, the joy on his face at that moment just meant the World to me. It was an amazing time.

    Florida sunsets on the Gulf.

    We like to eat here:

We often sail out to watch the sunset, the other sailboats making wonderful silhouettes against the fading light:

Most tourists in Key West see the sunsets from Mallory Square, but I found that too crowded:

Unintended saidIn the North East, Cape May, NJ and Cape Cod, MA both have water sunsets.

Both Capes and the Keys also have water sunrises, but I've seldom been awake early enough to go out and see them. And the few times on Cape Cod the conditions were either cloudy or hazy, didn't produce a distinct sunrise.

Best Sunset view: Berkeley Hills overlooking SF bay. Fort Point overlooking the Golden Gate bridge or take a cruise around Alcatraz around 7 pm for a stunning SF sunset. If you are in LA area, take a drive on PCH or stop by Will Rogers beach in Malibu, the sunset in Malibu is spectacular, too. Or go to Griffith Observatory, best view of the entire Los Angeles area. In OC, I love Newport Beach and Huntington Beach, surf city sunset view here....gorgeous. My vote go to San Francisco. I sort of missed the scenic SF views now that I left, the place, apt, living condition...not so much.

I am not much of a morning person, never really seen a Sunrise view.
