Nothing against you RSF but we just had this thread last month somewhere. Many acts of science are responsible for evil too. Hitler's genocide was inspired by Darwinian Evolution. If people want a reason to do evil, they find it.
Did I say that acts of science weren't responsible for evil as well? Hitler's genocide was partially inspired by Darwinian Evolution, but an irrational hatred for Jews (whom he blamed for Germany's plight after World War I) was what started the initial hostilities within the country. The Holocaust didn't start until many years later, and even then, Jews were the primary target. While I agree that people will do evil when and if they want to, religion is often the primary motivation behind starting wars, terrorist attacks, slavery, genocide, acts of violence against minorities, etc. My primary point is that religion has created more death, destruction, and discriminatory practices than any scientific theory/finding or technological advance combined. In fact, it's not even close.
Additionally, I'm not really sure what last month's thread has to do with my response. It's not as if we're discussing findings from individual research projects on cold fusion. It's not like those discussions have any real meaning on this thread. Regardless of the consensus of last month's thread, I'm expressing my opinion here, right now.
