Not the right category but I don't know where it fits. From an interview with Charlie Rose about five or six years ago:

“Making vice chic was a tremendous moral error and I think the entire global village is suffering now, and the generation coming up is malformed because of it...that they never had a shot at innocence, which is one of the privileges of childhood....”

You can see part of the interview here:

She gets a little extreme at the end, but there's still a lot of truth in what she says.

Joni hits the nail on the head, as usual. You look at how mean-spirited/aggressive youth culture has become, evidenced by internet phenomena such as recorded teen girl fights, cyberbullying a teenage girl to the point of suicide because she shared some nude photos online, scenes of people acting up at McDonald's because they were shorted a few McNuggets, the Zillion Dollar Girlz, just to name a few. A culture that glorifies and is entertained by these types of crudities, obscenities, arrogance, and sexualizing children at younger ages...it's connected to everything above. Wish more people would listen to her.

Joni Mitchell is a poet. Her lyrics & melody to Man From Mars, so simple, haunting & beautiful icon_smile.gif Anyone who can write like her knows a deeper truth.....
