I watched a couple of matches today from the 1st round. It was kind of painful to watch Venus lose in the first round. I know she is still a champion at 33 despite her auto immune disease. She showed some form today and had some great moments and shots, but I think her days as a singles major champion contender are coming to an end. I do think she is healthy enough to play doubles and continue a championship streak on that side.

I was a little lost at why James Blake is still playing in the majors. His knees are not in the best condition and he is carrying some extra weight since coming back. I will his brother had continued to play so that they could have become a formidable doubles team along side the Bryan brothers and the Williams sisters.

Lleyton Hewitt's match was not shown in my time zone, but he is another that is still playing in the majors.

Are there any players that are/were among your favorites that you think should retire or step aside?

In my opinion Serena deserve to win Roland Garros after winning Charleston, Madrid and Rome. I'm rooting for her and wishing, she could extend her gap to the rest of the players.

I wish and hope for Ana's breakthrough in Paris. I'll be delighted, if she reached the semis again. It would be awesome. Rafa should take the trophy again. I want him to be number 1 again. If he plays superb in Wimbledon and US Open, he has a shot, snatching the top spot.

Venus should retire. It's sad to see, her form went downhill this year. She's not a dangerous player anymore like in her prime. She should call it a career.

    PREACH.

I can't stand Nadal, lately all I hear from is whining, injury excuses and he continues to beat opponents who hit more winners than him.

Anyway I'm very happy and excited for Jankovic (such a deliciously entertaining drama queen)

Hampton's got some game though and I quite like her firepower!

Lastly, I LOVE Bethanie fucking Mattek Sands. She has such variety and power and really goes for her shots!

Rooting for Stephens against Sharapova too! All the americans left are my favorites haha.

Step aside? Maybe John Isner. His frame gets in the way of his success.

    No one else, really.

I have to wonder why he doesn't try to get a coach or come up with a way to stop being known for his 5 set matches. It is almost like how Andy Roddick was in the beginning of his career when he clearly relied solely on his serve, which was impressive. I would like to see an American guy step up with a rounded game like the heir apparents to the Williams sisters: Sloan Stephens and Bethany Mattek-Sands.

And how about Tommy Robrado Amazing to watch come back from 2 sets down to win and he has done it each of the rounds this time around. And really kind of touching when he broke down after his win. Great emotion and play from a guy who was pretty much written off.

OK my serious answer is that I don't think any of them should retire or step aside, and I don't see why the ATP champions tour is not more popular seeing as how it has lots of the big names and personalities people used to love.

I hope Djoker and Nadal get to the semis, because I want to see Djok keep his title. Even though Nadal's strongpoint is clay, I think Djok will do fine. Nadal is getting old and he has health problems.

Lol. Nadal is only 26. But he definitely has knee problems. Will prob cut his career short in the end. But I always pull for Nole and Fed. So would love for them to duel it out at Wimby.

Deserving final will be between Serena and Azarenka. Those two are the best right now. However I am questioning Azarenka's form right now. Sharapova is very hard to beat because mentally she is incredibly tough, like really tough. Sloane Stephens has all the goods to beat Sharapova except for mental part. If Stephens maintains her cool she will be able to beat Sharapova.
I also think that if Serena is having a bad day then Kuznetsova has all the goods to beat her.

    Federer lost. Haha!

Serena won after a tough match against Kuznetsova. I was so happy, she finished it after 0-2 down with break point opportunities for Sveta in the third set.

I'm a huge fan of Tipsarevic. He kicked Roddick's ass 2009 and it made me very happy. This was back when he wasn't even seeded.

Yeah I remember that match! Then he upset him two years later at the US Open by a similar score line if I remember correctly. He is a really good player. Who knocked him out at RG? Unfortunately no channel shows tennis so I have to find out scores later.

Actually I didn't expect, he would beat the in-form Nole.
