Well, I can certainly recommend Amsterdam if you plan on visiting the Netherlands. Lots of gay oriented places, bars, sex-shops, saunas etc. Some kinkier places too, dark rooms etc. Hotels are very gay friendly too.

London has the largest gay scene, purely because of the size of the city.

But Berlin is fun as well.

    Paris is bit dead tbh

Amsterdam is real cool, laid back.

Rome is full of hot men - need i say more? icon_wink.gif

Cologne has a healthy gay scene as well and can be cheap to get to as lots of airlines fly there.

I second that Rome has lots of hot men.... maybe not so much of a scene but lots of hot guys who are also on grindr and gayromeo.

Cologne is definitely underrated as a gay city. Very much worth visiting, and not far from Amsterdam.

Munich, hands down is my favorite gay city in Europe. - Also my favorite non-gay city in Europe. The energy level is incredible. The people are friendly and easy to converse with. There are plenty of museums and the city has such a great connection to world and Nazi history. I've become too old for the club scene, so I can't comment on that aspect.

While the Belgians I encountered didn't float my boat, I love Brussels. The city is fascinating because of its cosmopolitan flair with the best mixture of cultures observed outside NYC. Amsterdam wasn't bad in that respect either.

Dublin, Ireland has a huge gay scene and some great clubs.

Paris is good but the best parties aren't in Le Marais (the gay district) which is indeed very dead

I'd say London, Paris, Rome, Barcelona and Berlin have the best gay scenes in Europe. Berlin has more leather-fetishes. Rome has a lot of hot Italian gay guys. London is a mixed crowd of everyone.

I'd suggest to get a gay travel guide for each cities you want.

Depends on exactly what you are looking for.
Personally I love Berlin, Düsseldorf, Prague, London and Barcelona for "scene" related activities as there's always at least a club to go to if there's no other events going on.
Forget Ibiza and look into the Dalmatian coast now this is where the drop dead stunning Euro big boys go to party or you could put up with the english twads over in Ibiza.

Even modest sized cities within Europe have a gay bar or two spread throughout the city so again it all comes down to what you want personally.

Skip London, its a shithole. Dublin and Munich I thought had pretty good gay scenes. But I think generally the best gay scenes are too be found on the continent, but if I had to make UK specific recommendations I would say Newcastle, Bristol, Brighton. Avoid Birmingham like the plague. Also, a lot of the 'little England' counties are rampantly homophobic, so the further north you go the better. I'm told Edinburgh has a really good gay scene but i've never experienced it myself. If you have any queries on the UK specifically i'll be more than happy to answer them, i'm not that well versed on the continental gay scene though.

Amsterdam is the single most overrated city in the EU if you want my opinion. Well so is London.

The problem with London is the guys there are all pretentious twats. And they are dripping with STIs. Filthy city really. Now Wales doesn't have a gay scene really, just in Cardiff, but at least the people are nice and friendly.

If London remotely resembled the huge generalisation above I wouldn't have lived here for 14 years. There is something for everyone here. Every type of place for every type of fella. It can be as sleazy to as sophisticated as you want it icon_smile.gif

Just never found a gay pub I like.

If there was one like this that didn't get rammed, that had decent local beers, that didn't blast noisy pop music, and didn't try desperately to be the "it" spot, I'd possibly go.

There's quite a few excellent traditional pubs springing up which I'd call "gay friendly" where either the landlords are gay or because there are so many gays living in the area that half the clientele are gay. All extremely friendly and relaxed.

I prob wouldn't make a special effort. A nice pub's a nice pub, regardless of its gay/gay-friendly/non-specific nature. If a pub's got a friendly vibe, I feel comfortable.

I love in London, so am biased. It's a great place with lots of different places to suit all tastes. There's a club to go to on every night of the week and lots and lots of bars (Soho's busiest...look at QX online)

I also like Berlin, Hamberg, Barcelona, Paris, Madrid and Copenhagen.

Be careful in Barcelona, as it's pick-pocket capital of the world and the bars all work on a strange system, where everyone goes to the same bars at the same time and the rest are empty (dunno why). It's got good clubs though and lots of cute men.

Don't bother with the scene in Amsterdam, it's rubbish, small, sleazey and old-fashioned. Do go to Amsterdam however for everything else. It's a lovely place, just not a good scene.

Don't bother with any other scene in the UK besides London. They're clichey and not very interesting.

If you're going to Scotland, go to Edinburgh, as it's got some bars and a lovely castle.

Wales is a waste of time.

    Play safe and have fun.
