IN MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, before I came out of the closet, I've always noticed that gays typically hang with other gays or females. It was pretty rare for me to see gay guys hanging with a good mixture of straight men or women.

Now that I'm out, I realize that I'm only gay guy in my circle of friends. Most of them are guys. I was wondering if anyone's in the same boat as I am.

Please don't cause drama. My last thread was a total mess.

My closest friends are straight, though I have few gay friends in my circle of friends. Equal mix of male and female.

I'll pretty much hang out with anyone that is friendly, upbeat, and can keep a conversation going. icon_smile.gif

My friends are all imaginary icon_cry.gificon_lol.gif

As far as my track record has gone, most of them have been straight (?) guys. I rarely had female friends.

But I can be pretty good friends with anyone into gaming.

    I probably have:

    a 60/40 split on male/female friends
    a 80/20 split on straight/gay close friends
    a 95/5 split on straight/gay acquaintances

hrm. I actually have 2 sets of friends

The Outdoor/Active lifestyle friends whom I travel and do physical things with.

The Movie/Nerd friends whom I kickback indoors with.

Sometimes i have the two groups co-mingle, but on rare occasions, like paintball games.

    Well said.
I have very few friends, one is extremely extrovert, one is my bf, one is a female, & couple of others who are little bit weird, one is nerd, and the other is crazy.
    & so on.
So far, all are straight except one, whom I doubt he is gay, but never asked him.

I spend a lot of time with my triathlon training buddies (almost all straight). Luckily they're all very interesting and have things to talk about besides triathlons (we're not typical tri-geeks, but all of us are serious athletes). They're very accepting of my sexuality, but it's not a topic of conversation.

I also have a lot of great friends from the university community, a mix of gay and straight.

I do have a few close gay friends, but I've never been a part of a gay posse, since I have never defined myself primarily by that.

I have a wide variety of friends, but my closest friends are definitely straight males. I only have a couple of female friends but I've never clicked with most women on any level so I keep them at a distance. Pretty much the same with a lot of gay men. There are definitely some guys on RJ that I would hang with all the time if we lived in the same city. I've just always felt more comfortable with straight guys as there tends to be less head games.

    I divide mine up thusly:

Friends -the people I like and hangout with.
Crappy friends - people I know from real life, stalk me on face book but never have time to go out for beers.
Imaginary internet friends - people I've met online, would like to hang with but live too far away from.

Family - those people on facebook who's news feeds I've "unsubscribed" from, and use privacy settings so they don't see my regular posts. Basically the same as "Crappy friends" but I feel some ethical obligation to not unfriend.

I have one category of friends...and they suck.

I'm not just saying that - the US and the Soviets had a more reliable friendship then I do with them. Just so...lame. I want friends that are reliable and actually make an effort to be around you - not just "well I might as well since I've got nothing better to do..."

well do u bring anything to the table?
Why do u feel as if ur friends only wanna be around you if they've got nothing better to do? Perhaps you're boring to be around? Why do none of your friends make the effort? hmmmm, makes me wonder more about u than them
