Welcoming a Puppy into my Life

I would like to introduce Roxy; my 10 week old puppy. We were introduced to each other on May 21st and have been inseparable since. She is half Boxer and half Rottweiler. She is growing at a very fast rate and training her has been quite the challenge but it's great! I even take her into my office and she socializes with my employees (I feel sorry for her and don't want to leave her home alone icon_razz.gif).

Day One: (Just a little background) Before I came into this company (2 years ago), they would throw out a lot of pet supplies/pet food that would get damaged or expire. When I came in I introduced a "give back" campaign which includes donating any damaged product or [close-to] expiring product to shelters instead of just throwing it out. So when the shelters come to pickup the product, they tend to bring some pets to socialize with the employees and that's where I met Roxy. She was abused as a very small pup and was brought in to the shelter. When I saw her, I adopted here then and there. She was also very skinny. My choice was not only a personal choice but also a great business choice as she is a great moral booster for my employees!

Two days with me and she filled up pretty nicely and has earned a clean bill of health from the vet!

It was just a waste when it can be used to help out starving animals.

    She's adorable!

My advice would be to get her used to having your hands in her mouth and holding her paws. It makes it easier on the vet for exams and nail trimmings, plus if you ever have to give her pills.

Also, be consistent with her training.

She's teething so I am teaching her not to nibble on furniture and stick to her toys. The vet told me the same thing with consistency. So she has her daily schedule (ie. eat, sleep, walk (bathroom breaks) etc..)

    SOOOOOOO CUUUTE!

Just be consistant and disciplined on the training. do the same thing over and over and over and over. it's actually easy to train pets, it's hard to train ourselves icon_smile.gif

It's wonderful that you opened your home and heart to an animal in need. And fantastic that you instituted that program at work. You've got some awesome karma points built up.

Congrats on the newest addition to your family. It's so fantastic to hear/know that you adopted her. (And weren't some selfish prick for BUYING a puppy from a breeder/puppy mill.)

She is adorable. I really needed a smile today! icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif

    Congrats again!

Ahh sounds like a good match!

I wish I could get a puppy now, but I can't since I still need to finish university and then get settled into a job and new city after graduation.
