Good stuff, but kinda useless unless you're going to compete in a physique competition (or if you're just so into yourself that you want the perfect bod to jack off to in the mirror, which is not necessarily a bad thing...as long as you let others watch and grope). icon_biggrin.gif

I agree Paul, but I was just curious about how a male physique should be ideally !! Besides, we can use these calculations as our goals icon_smile.gif

I used to be envious of Steve Reeve's physique--that narrow waist with that barrel-sized chest. But that shit's genetic. Either you have a wide waist or a narrow one. Nothing is going to make my waist drop to 30 inches, and I'm shorter than him. I can increase my chest measurement to compensate, but then my length to width proportion looks really off (neck to navel versus circumference).

While i find all this valid i feel like it doesn't do a good job of taking into account different body types...

I guess I have an issue with the word "project." The BB.com article isn't about projecting, its more a historical informative of how guys like Zane achieved their look, and giving some way of measuring our goal better than just having someone compliment you at the gym. Project smacks too much to me as "look at me" and that's too smarmy.

Usain Bolt knows what he has done when he goes 9.7, but we don't have that perfect time piece. A real eye opener is entering a competition sometime. Everyone who thinks they have what it takes should try it. There are local competitions everywhere. If half the guys here who think they can compete would enter, and see what its like, then we'd have so REAL amazing discussions on RJ. Suffice it to say, I tried, and I didn't try twice.

The idea behind the word "project" was like, when initially I started taking bodybuilding seriously, I did not know what the ideal goal should be in terms of looks and measurements ! Only thing in my mind was I have to gain weight with lean mass. I know the stats and the article itself is based on the old concepts but it still helps a bit about how you should set your goals !! Again, yeah I agree, when entering in the real world competitions, this thing will be much more clear icon_smile.gif

It's easy to win local bodybuilding contests. Just be the only competitor in your weight/category. Sure, you won't win overall. But you'll be 1st in your category. icon_lol.gif
