The compassion evident in the HHS Secretary's response is heart-warming. Welcome to Obamacare!

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius rebuffed an appeal from Rep. Lou Barletta, R-Pa., on behalf of a girl who needs a lung transplant but can't get one because of a federal regulation that prevents her from qualifying for a transplant.

“Please, suspend the rules until we look at this policy,” Rep. Lou Barletta, R-Pa., asked Sebelius during a House hearing Tuesday on behalf of Sarah Murnaghan, a 10-year-old girl who needs a lung transplant. She can’t qualify for an adult lung transplant until the age of 12, according to federal regulations, but Sebelius has the authority to waive that rule on her behalf. The pediatric lungs for which she qualifies aren’t available.

“I would suggest, sir, that, again, this is an incredibly agonizing situation where someone lives and someone dies,” Sebelius replied.

    Lord!

Thank you for reminding me of the way the Reagan admin. let thousands...not one, but thousands die in an attempt to wish it all would go away....icon_cry.gif

Yes, it should be suspended during the review and she should be allowed to get a transplant.

Too bad you weren't around or if you were, remained mysteriously silent when this came up a la Jan BrewerCare (repub) in Arizona:
    http://abcnews.go.com/Health/News/arizona-transplant-deaths/story?id=12559369#.Ua6IGkDVB6g

...and the opinions on topics here about it were as callous as they get from the Right side.

I'm curious; are you inferring this restriction came about because of Obamacare or was this in place prior?

CallMeAnytime popped up on here about 2 weeks ago, and immediately began barraging us with Right Wing propaganda. Does anyone really take him seriously? We've had plants like this before. Or else a sock puppet of a veteran Right Wing spammer who got booted. These guys are really tiresome, and I wish Admin could be a little more attentive, to keep this site clean of this crap. icon_razz.gif

Nice try, but there's a waiting list for a reason. The unfortunate fact is that there are not enough organs to go around. I appreciate that her parents and supporters are pulling out all the stops to save her life -- who wouldn't? But the people at the top of the list -- who have been waiting for transplants however long -- have loved ones too and just as much right to a transplant as this girl. It sucks, but what makes her more special than the person at the top of the list who may also die? Why should the rules of the waiting list be suspended for her and not for ...everybody else on the list?

What this has to do with Obamacare -- nobody knows. Waiting lists for organ transplants have been around forever. Just more batshit crazy Obama Derangement Syndrome from nutty Republicans who can't figure out why nobody takes them seriously. Idiots.
