Surprised nobody here posted this. Too bad California didn't have that confiscatory ammo tax in place - I'm sure that would have prevented this.

5 dead in Santa Monica rampage

Carlos Navarro Franco, 68, of West Los Angeles was one of four people who died Friday, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

How about a sock tax instead? You'd be broke in no time.

Update: Apparently the gunman broke the "gun-free school zone law" too!

Campus police intercepted the gunman on the edge of campus and exchanged gunfire with him, authorities said. They continued to trade shots as the man ran toward the school's library and shot a woman outside the building's entrance before disappearing inside.

This story is all over the news out here. Very bad situation happening in Santa Monica which is a very progressive area which makes this even more shocking. Very sad.

I was getting broadcast phone calls and emails all throughout the day. I did a bunch of continuing ed / personal enrichment evening courses there (and some at UCLA) .... about 160 credit hours worth between 1996 and 2004. I like that place given that it was about a 10-15 min walk to get there.

They've identified the shooter .... John Zawahri. Let's see where this leads if anywhere.

It's interesting that a few of the more prolific posters on here who live in the Los Angeles area haven't chimed in. Well, not surprising since they seem to only post in support of liberal causes. If I was a conspiracy theorist I would think that their mission on here is funded by Democratic party organizations.

So why is it shocking that this occurred in a progressive area? Liberals do not commit crimes? Or is it they just don't consider their crimes a criminal act?
