If the choice were between sending guns to the middle east, or sending LSD, what would Jesus do?

He'd be to right there like a hippie at a love fest, dropping acid and giving peace a chance!!!icon_biggrin.gif And the smiling happy people would be all like kumbaya we love each other now, as they witnessed miracle after miracle. The world needs a new global hippie movement. It's about expanding your mind, man.icon_cool.gif

They're all fried, then became slaves of leftism. For an example of the sole survivor of the 60s, look up Camille Paglia.

    Ha!

But it is interesting how these same liberals in the 60s and early to mid 70s have done a complete about face.

This is natural and happens to everyone.

When you're younger and with less responsibilities it's natural to rail against everything.

When you get older, and more cynical, you realise all your railing achieves little, you have more stuff that you'd like to hold on to, and that the world is controlled by large greedy corporations and there's nothing you can do about it.

There are still liberals out there though, trying to be heard and make a difference.

I'm quoting you because I said virtually the same thing in another thread and my haters accused me of misusing the word cynicism, even though I offered many examples of it's usage, and here is another example!! icon_smile.gif

Free speech! Give peace a chance! Bombing for love is like fucking for virginity!!!!

Not that I can ever remember, though I did vote for Clinton/Gore first time around.

A better question is why Republicans are content to let Americans die at the hands of terrorists and crazy gun owners?

Not me; I get more liberal as I get older. I think it comes from seeing further through greed, disliking huge corporations controlling my country, and lean towards tolerance for all - the result of greater self-knowledge and control... Senility, I guess.

The thing that is missing is an anti war movement. In the 60s mainstream pop culture embraced peace. Now peace is a fringe group, and the mainstream embraces the war machine.

Perhaps. But with a few notable exceptions:

    Hillary Clinton
    Bill Clinton
    Nancy Pelosi
    Diane Feinstein
    Barbara Boxer
    Dick Durbin
    Chuck Schumer
    Barack Obama

It goes more generational. The people that fought for women's right to vote were liberal. They were fighting against conservatives. Tell a conservative today that women shouldn't vote and you'd be called a monster.

I am not sure I agree with you.

There are plenty of liberals bothered by the NSA program. The ACLU is.

Some people are less ideologues and more for the party especially when they are in power.
They so dislike the political consequences that they rationalize just about anything.

In the NSA case i think it transcends political party. And you can argue the NSA could manipulate politicians quite easily as an Omniscient collector of information.

They got into places of power, and power corrupts.

    And what Webster666 said: money.

Exhibit A, - although i do not necessarily think its an indictment of liberals. Its an indictment of government and unchecked power.

Government employees who fear nothing in breaking the law.

The IRS used a narrow subpoena to steel millions of medical records in violation of the law.

    http://dailycaller.com/2013/06/12/house-committee-looks-into-irs-seizure-of-60-million-medical-records/

The report and the lawsuit chronicle arrogant agents that stole records personal cell phones.

It even ordered Pizza and PPV on the companies dime

To top it off, the IRS agents were rude, childish and arrogant, the complaint states:
"Adding insult to injury, after unlawfully seizing the records and searching their intimate parts, defendants decided to use John Doe Company's media system to watch basketball, ordering pizza and Coca-Cola, to take in part of the NCAA tournament, illustrating their complete disregard of the court's order and the Plaintiffs' Fourth Amendment rights.
"This complaint seeks justice for each and all of those individuals subjected to the invasive and unlawful search and seizure conducted on March 11, 2011."
The complaint adds: "The search warrant authorized the seizure of financial records related principally to a former employee of the company; it did not authorize any seizure of any health care or medical record of any persons, least of all third parties completely unrelated to the matter.
