I have to say I loved the old layout and color scheme way better! This new grey looks cheap to me. But I could be alone in this thought.

I think it was a step backward in design.

    Thoughts?

wow, yeah, "the gay", in real jock has been dropped, I didn't realize there were soooo many non homos on this site enough to drop the gay attention, yes, more conservative colors too and when searching for this site, from the outside, who is going to know that its gay friendly?

is that what this new design indicates, gay friendly vs a gay website? or just dropping the label of gay?, if they decided to go "no label", then in profiles I would suggest adding a box to check ones orientation they most identify with.. Gay, Straight, Bi, Questioning, Queer..

As noted in the 2011 contest that produced this new logo:

    http://99designs.com/logo-design/contests/create-great-logo-realjock-million-monthly-visitors-106373

    RealJockFurther requirements
We are looking for a new logo that is more modern and web 2.0. The logo should include both a simple, masculine pictorial mark and the name REALJOCK. The current pictorial mark -- a muscular man running -- is too literal. We are looking for something more simple and abstract. The tagline (gay fitness health and life) does not need to be included. The design should be landscape and made to fit in the current website design (current logo is 286X94 pixels).
RealJock's audience is primarily adult men 25 and older in the following countries: US, CA, UK, and AU. Audience interests include working out, sports, fitness activities, and eating well. Many of our members compete in sports at an amateur level.

And again, the tagline's not on the logo, but it's right there on the first headline of the home page.

    in design, no.

    color, yes.

Its more simpler and clear I love it. Honestly the skeumorphism (sp) is so behind us now. The trend is simplicity and that's what is being done with a lot of websites, GUIs, Mobile Operating Systems, Operating Systems, etc.

    I Love It!

I know what you mean about the pics. The old color scheme worked better in my case, though I have one pic which I might try, just to see if it works better.... Even though it's not my favorite pic...icon_neutral.gif

It'll take some getting used to, but I don't mind it. I think it needs a little tweaking because somethings seem to be missing or not working right.

On a side note, the OP is a pastry chef. He seriously needs to post more. icon_biggrin.gif

I think the fonts are too small, and a little more color would be good.
    Same hot guys, thank God!

After I don't know how many years this site hasn't changed a single icon. It does need a fresh new look but this isn't it. It's lazy work. I mean they rarely bother to add any features whatsoever. Yes thanks for pagination and photo previews but really in over 5 years... come on. I don't know why all of a sudden they decide to make these "radical" changes, I suppose is because of how much viewership they have been losing lately. The forums are dead compared to what it used to be so now they added this always wanted tracking feature to keep users coming back but seriously that is not enough to retain their user base. They need:

1 - Responsive Designed Site, yes welcome to 2013
2 - From 1 derives : better mobile awareness with a mobile first design
3 - Moderators to keep the trolls, spammers and haters on check(ironically this will reduce the amount of members that leave the site)
4 - LISTEN TO USER REQUESTS
5 - Allow for polls in forums, this is such a needed feature for so many topics on this site.
6 - Ask for help in the RJ community. Many of us have work as designers and developers and can help you out at no cost just because we would like this site to keep improving.
    7 - Stop falling asleep!

....wouldn't that sort of become a "FB" type of thing?
Should we also be able to do a social graph, based on selectable characteristics of your friends, buddies, hotlist and those blocked? might be interesting to see...
wait, I can see RJ going public on WS and making billions of $$$$ and selling our demographic info for ads.....wait, they do that too....nevermind
