I have just learned that major cities on Prince Edward Island (province of Canada) has curfews for kids out trick-or-treating. In Charlottetown, PEI, the curfew is 8 PM! Apparently, this is due to past vandalism, but I dont know the history.

Here in my neighborhood, we have no problem. And in my whole city of Alexandria, there is nothing like a curfew.

    I am wondering about others.

Do you experience vandalism on Halloween?

    Are there curfews tonight?

Especially, what about the rest of Canada?

I'm not Canadian, but there are some kids in my neighborhood that had been caught breaking into houses, carrying firearms, and breaking into cars. To me it seems kind of absurd to give them a night where it's socially acceptable to be on other people's property. I understand that they're in the minority, and I know at least a couple of the victims are married to a tracking device via the Department of Corrections. A couple of years ago, I was home on Halloween night, and I had people knocking on my door as late as 11:00 on a school night even with the porch lights off (probably they were casing to see whether or not someone was home).

I wish that they would have a Halloween curfew, I think the younger kids should be able to trick or treat and have their fun. In my opinion no one should be knocking on my door after 9pm on Halloween night with no children over the age of 12 at any time. But hey, I'm not a law maker. It seems like people are backing away from trick or treating in neighborhoods anyway and seeking out alternate activities held at shopping centers, malls, and such. Anyone else notice this?

Just got my last treat or trickers about 9.45. No curfews in my town in New Jersey and there has never been any sorts of vandalism. I actually gave one of the dads a beer.

Lol, it could be that a group of friends went out with more than one parent's supervision. icon_razz.gif Or it could be a gay couple.

But yeah, vandalism happened here in BC. When I was in middle school, some of the windows at my school were shattered, while others were spray-panted on. I've also heard of dumb kids egging people's houses, and playing with firecrackers and such. Delinquents. =_=

i can onlt assume it comes mainly from thenight BEFORE halloween, known as Devil's night of "Mat Night"

mat night = night where miswcheif is caused... stealing someons entrance mat, and switching it wit6h someone from 2 blocks away's.... but it's escalated since then in certain cities i guess.

there's no curfew for kids in montreal (or at least my part of the city (that i know of)). but nothign REALLY bad has happened either. some eggs are thrown, a few pumpkins smashed (along with my happy halloween dreams when i was 12)... but that's bout it.

i did get yelled at from a car tonight... "holy crap it's 2 guys kissing".. yay halloween...and we were only whispering.

I think I'm out of the loop; however, there is no curfew for kids going trick or treating in Ontario Canada...or is there? I don't think so.
