Yes, I'm still against the death penalty. Two totally unrelated issues. I doubt that they will attempt to prosecute them with that.

One barbaric action does not require a barbaric solution.

    Agreed.

The only purpose is a punishment and which case you're granting a mercy. It doesn't rehabilitate and it doesn't deter other people. The next sex-crazed pervert isn't going to sit there and debate if he's going to get the death penalty or not when he thinks about committing his next crime. As an advanced society, we should have moved past such crude and barbaric means of punishing people.

Wait, the wife was an accomplice, or at least an aider and abetter, but it doesn't say what charges she face.

I believe that as a society, violence should only be used as a last resort. As a society, we should work towards becoming a civilized society. That society should do what it can to minimize violence, not promote it. There are much easier, less violent ways to deal with violent criminals by pulling them out of society permanently. And being that our system will never be perfect, that our system is run and created by humans, humans that make mistakes (whether unintentionally or on purpose), when we do make mistakes, they can attempt to try to correct mistakes if we have not killed them.

Someone like that is beyond rehabilitation. I wouldn't want him to take one more free breath. Plug in the electric chair!! Pious rhetoric is no substitute for justice! That girl will have enormous mental problems and affect all those around her negatively for the rest of her life. She and they deserve justice. You have so much compassion for the criminal, what about the VICTIM??

A mistake is screwing up when balancing your check book. This was a deliberate act of pure evil. Surely you can see the distinction.....

Killing him won't change anything for that poor girl. It's already happened.

I happen to agree with you that he deserves to die. He deserves to die in some of the most gruesome manners possible - I'm thinking of the classic tie all extremities (yes, including THAT one) to a horse and having them all go at once. But what he deserves is different then what is right by civilized human standards. The government nor individuals have no right to determine who lives or dies. That is left up to the universe. And I'd rather not spend the extra 2 million dollars to execute him. He isn't worth it.

The only thing that drives the death penalty is a feeling of vengeance. And we do not run a country on such hot headed feelings.

Why do people post links to stuff like this? I don't need these visual images.

I forgot about the Ignore His Posts link under his name. What a relief that I remembered it. Some people need to get a life instead of being a news link forwarding robot.
