Our Muscle Size is Genetically Pre-determined

    According to this and despite what many people have said, our muscles have a genetically per-determined maximum growth size. You can push it to the max with hard work and training, but you're not going to get past your genetic limit (without enhancements, I assume.) This also explains why some people can put on muscle rather easily or be naturally muscular without doing any strength training.

    Now then, someone invent a myostatin blocker, please.

    This is basically what I've always understood. And that certain muscles and muscle groups have a genetic size tendency, giving us much of our individual general shape.

    I'm not sure about absolute growth, though, but rather ease of growth as determined by genes. Age is also a factor, not only because of hormonal changes, but at the cellular level.
