I saw this in the local paper this morning. Here's the online version:

    http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-boys-eating-disorders-20130614,0,6153566.story

A survey shows that L.A. male high school students are about as likely as females to use diet aids or laxatives or vomiting to lose weight. The numbers challenge old assumptions.

High school boys in Los Angeles are twice as likely to induce vomiting or use laxatives to control their weight as the national average, with 5.2% of those surveyed saying they had recently done so, according to the most recent survey data gathered by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Los Angeles Unified School District. They are also more likely to have used diet pills, powders or liquids than boys nationwide.

Don't understand; as this is nothing new--anyone who's tried to "make weight" has done this all the way back to when the stupid weight classes were established in gym class a billion years ago.
I used to use my mothers bottle of Ipecac.

It is really no wonder I had weight issues later on in life?

First they try to fight childhood obesity, then they demonize those who attempt to stay lean.

    WTF

OH NO! What's wrong with everybody?
Such a bad life style, not good for anyone.
Instead of people training themselves to resist temptation, due to laziness and bad information & knowledge...most of them are going the wrong way, thinking it as the road laden with flowers, soon discovering that underneath the flowers there are thorns.
How sad, many people are repeating the same mistake over and over again and then passing it to the next generation so that the successor would make more mistakes.

What's the government doing? Oh right! they themselves are messed up. :-/
Change should come from within not from out!
